When I saw your previous video on this, I was actually really looking forward to seeing the followup on it. And I'm not disappointed! I'm glad you got it working, AND a partial refund! Its a shame ya can't just shove the cooler from the Gaming X trio 2070 Super on it. Although it might not have the same girth as the 2080ti version (therefor not cooling as well) or the mounting holes don't line up. Still, would be cool to see if it was possible. Like a DIY 2080ti Gaming X trio. That being said, I'd like to see how the accelero handles it. After all, it seems only right that you treat that 2080Ti like a gentleman and give it the best cooling you can give it. Especially since it was such a good deal, kinda makes it even more special than an expensive 2080Ti, because there's great price performance AND a cool story behind it! I almost had a similar deal when i RMA'd my 2070 and got a 2080Ti Gaming X trio as a swap. I was over the MOON about it! But ultimately, that 2080Ti failed 3 more times and I eventually just got my money back on the 2070. Now... I just have a used 1080Ti (GIGABYTE basic 3 fan model, no backplate). I mean, I got it for £400, when all the others I could get were £500+. And I even painted the shroud white to match my build which worked out perfectly, so at least I got a story out of mine. It was just sad to see that beautiful 2080Ti leave. Since I had never had the highest end of any GPU before.

because I want to move the GPU around a lot, the liquid cooler is extremely annoying to move around to different motherboards and computers. I've done it before. I'd rather keep it as the blower for portability for now. I will watercool it at some point don't you worry :)

@@deminybs Through an AIO On it so its easy to move around, or grab some Quick Disconnects and throw it on it, still a pain because it means you have to potentially move around a Pump too, but at least makes it easy to tear down, if you take off the AIO off a EVGA Hybrid card, then you can use the plate they use to distribute the Cooling to the Memory, then you can use that and any AIO, that way your just pulling out the Card and an AIO Rad. It would make your card one of the best performers in terms of KZbin Content test benches. Much Luck, glad you kept it AND got some of your money back. I definitely would buy one of those and water cool it.

When you cleaned off the die, was it a 300A or just 300? And I gurantee the washers is what fixed it. Did you take some high res pics of that pcb, I'd love to see them nvm, i downloaded the thumbnail image, you got a 300A chip, thats very good and you got Samsung memory IC's - Great combo, ill compare the pcb to my asus dual ref, but from a quick glance looks to be very similar. You got a great deal on the card with the money back, Now just throw a water block on it and you could get another 1000 points in Port Royal :D my asus dual is like 40 points from the 100 spot in the hall of fame.

I think you shouldn't be using metal washers on PCBs. You can end up shortening something on your board breaking it. Use plastic or silicone once instead.

I bought a shunt modded 2080ti that came with both the Founder's Edition cooler and an EK waterblock and backplate for C$ 1,200... This was a completely unplanned purchase which led me to finally put together a custom loop. I was lucky but I can't say I'd recommend people take the same risk.

The mounting pressure looks like it was terrible, which combined with a crappy blower cooler doesnt sound like a recipe for success. I vote using that 300 bucks to put it on water, even if its an Alphacool Eiswolf AIO. If its reference there are ones thatd fit it perfectly. They are weird cuz the liquid doesnt hit anything but the die but it still cools everything by taking heat from the redt of the enclosure, and the enclosure itself is made of pseudo fins. They are cool, and itd be much quieter. I plan on possibly painting one for a 5700XT lol

9:20 Dude, if you'd have binned the stock cooler and slapped on that Arctic cooler you near enough *would* have the 2080 Ti equivalent... At least in thermals and noise. No RGB and I'm not sure how much of a difference the custom PCB actually makes, but the drop in thermals would send your boost clocks skyrocketing

99% of 2080TI available to purchase use the reference PCB. So one way to get these cheap is to go down this route and put on a water block.

A friend of mine is entertaining getting a gpu and I noticed a blower style 2080 for a deal - it seems to be the same style as this one but it does not seem to have the backplate. I wonder if it was removed to allow better cooling on the back like I did with blower style Vega and titan cards

I have a GTX 1080 FE card which has a blower, and I quite like it because it's rare that the blower needs to kick into high gear when I run that card on stock settings. My question: would the GTX 1080 FE cooler assembly fit on a 2080 TI blower model, or are they completely incompatible? Thoughts?

Why don't you try solo gpu waterblocks without whole pcb cooling and add external memory and vrm heatsinks. If that works its like 150 bucks cheaper than classic full cover waterblocks.
