VERY CAREFULLY I used the steps on your video to fix the nib of a montblanc that I inherited from my dad (sort of a little treasure, since we are a quite humble family). It hadn’t fallen or anything, maybe I applied to much pressure while writing, maybe it came to me like that. I cannot afford taking it to a professional, so I had set it aside for almost a year. Today, after fixing a cheaper nib from an extremely dry pen, I felt like giving the montblanc a try. And it went great! I still have work to do with it cause it’s super scratchy, but it was like that before, I start thinking it came to me at least somewhat damaged. Thank you very much for showing your process of addressing a bent nib. I couldn’t have done it without! PS: I know, I know it’s quite heretic and irresponsible to diy a fix like this on a montblanc, but I preferred to risk ruining it than to risk abandoning it to the ages in a drawer cause I can’t afford to bring it to an expert.

That is exactly what the nib of my Sailor Pro Color looked like after I dropped it on the floor. I'm glad your repair was a success.

I guess that fixing a Sailor Procolor is a little harder because the nib is smaller. I have one in my collection and I love that little pen.

Thanks for the video, it was really illustrative . People who criticized first need to understand this is a hobby and unless someone proclaimed being a professional of sorts, all this is purely for entertaining and illustrative purposes. Thanks again for the video, may you and your love ones stay safe and healthy 🖖.

And I am not, for sure a professional. This is me just being me. And I think it may be interesting for some. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I hope you stay safe too!

That was interesting, and far beyond anything I've ever tried to do with a nib. Thank you!

I'm not sure if this is how it is suposed to be done... But it was "my" way...

Good video. I did something similar on a #6 Jowo nib that I had mangled. It is back to writing smoothly.

How could one possibly dislike this video? Very entertaining, and also useful! Chopsticks are useful in many ways for us fountain pen enthusiasts. Straightening bent tips using s metal shim is a splendid idea! That is if you have shims in abundance. I’ll check my wardrobe for those tiny valuables right away!

Thanks for the comment. Now that you are looking for those security tags you will not find any... and you will be thinking of how many you discarded for years!... 😀 And chopsticks are a valuable tool for many little repair processes.

Well done! Very soon you will become a nibmeister! This was a useful video and I am glad you decided to post it. I am sure you know it is possible to buy a block to re-shape a damaged nib. I am not sure if it is worth buying unless you repair pens for a living. I would be interested to know how you made the shims (or pieces of metal to go between the tines).

Thanks! I would love someday to master the skills needed to tune nibs. I know about such nib blocks... but they are expensive and, as you say, it is only useful if one is working on that for living. I would love to afford one, though. Those pieces are made of steel (harder material, so we need to be extra careful, mainly with gold nibs) and taken from magnetic alarms from clothing. I'll show it in my next video.

Why not? You are not saying that this is the right way or the only way. It has worked properly for you, so thanks for your kindness for showing it to us ... If someone tries to do it and fails, they can't blame you for anything.

Obrigado. Foi um pouco arriscado. Não sou especialista em restauro de aparos. Como ia tentar de qualquer modo, experimentei fazê-lo em vídeo. Se resultasse partilhava. Felizmente resultou e a caneta já tem tinta e escreve bem.
