Hi Kev, what a crusade you have taken on. Good to see you have hooked up with Nathan, it will help to have someone to work with but you really need to put pressure on the council. Maybe a friendly councillor watching this could come forward, but I can't believe a Labour Council in our city can let this happen. The council should have a team in the city centre doing what you are doing. Those of us old enough will reckon Bessie Braddock will be turning in her grave.

Hiya Kevin, I'm glad Jade and her friend got a bed for the night, the feller who keeps turning you down, I think he's doing it, because he refuses to take any handouts, it's entirely up to him, if the homeless stay at the YMCA, the council should do it on a regular basis, even a church hall that would put the homeless up for the night for free, that would be nice, Nathan sounds a cracking lad, this is Choppy in Whitehaven, Cumbria, England

Hey Kev, thanks for the work there. Is there anyone in the chat that could help Kev produce a 5 - 10 minute vid with music, statistics and first hand experience, then send it to every damn council in the country as well as every newspaper. If you could get it to go viral then you have 10, 20, even 100 million views then the questions that need to be asked may finally start to get answers. What a stupid rule that you need a damn bank card to get help, that's asinine at best but in reality it is sheer bloody negligence.

Do Salvation army work in Liverpool with the homeless? They do in Norwich and with other Churches and also 'Feed' run cafes and soup/Hot food kitchen, that takes food out to the City for homeless/ others in need to have a hot meal most nights of the week. They raise money selling from their Cafes lunches, fresh baked cakes and pies. The Salvation Army and the Cathedral and another Church open up Halls on rota for the homeless 8pm to 8am Sleeping bag, hot water for washing , toilet facilities and kitchen to make hot drinks etc. Evangelicals wash the sleeping bags and bedding. It works when many get together and get something organised.

@@Kevcupo Halfway through the video I googled hostels in Liverpool you can pay cash. It's near impossible for then to get a place to stay it's absolutely disgusting how our country is ran. To me personally I think the government are making it so hard for homeless people to get back onto their feet, how they are encouraging places to make the homeless pay by card with their name is is an absolute joke. Most haven't got a bank account and the government know that. I was with a girl from over the water a while ago and she was volunteering off her own back to try get homeless people off the streets and she was telling me it's so hard back then and I seen first hand how hard it was and how stressed she was getting just to try help the homeless, it's even worse now mate they are shutting places down too so there are less places for them to stay now. I would rather my hard earned taxes went to sorting the homeless situation out in our city and the country, rather than my taxes going on paying for lazy people who choose to sit and do nothing allday and rip the system off. I have seen a few ex soldiers homeless in the streets of Liverpool mate it shocked me to the core thinking wow if the government won't help someone who lay their lives on the line to protect their country then your average Joe homeless person is doomed. Sad times we live in mate 😔

Weirdly its hard to get a tent from homeless charities (most "dont give out tents") nevermind a roof over your head 😅 this includes local authority outreach (a seperate entity to local council to remove legal responsibilities of housing) The homeless application also requires a LHA aplication number to proceed which is also strange, seems theyre not assessing your current situation but your historical one. I have noticed that to recieve any professional intervention needs an adiction of some sort.. no help for working and at risk of homelessness 😅

When i was on holiday last year in Blackpool i gave a few homeless people cash, i was caught helping by some women from Shelter & i got pulled to one side & was told off by them they made me feel VERY SMALL & GUILTY. They said i should donate to shelter instead but i refuse to give anyone my bank details. so I left it. ( the women from shelter said the cash i gave the homeless went on booze & drugs, that if they died id be responsible) Do you feel safe carrying cash with you to pay for the YMCA or do you have someway to pay without

The comments from subscribers who suggested vouchers or contacting directly to the hostels would enable you to approach people so it keeps you safe and also adheres to safe guarding rules.Perhaps you can work alongside their outreach workers.I think it may be the way forward .I have experienced addictions issues in my family all I will say is manipulative behaviour is very common. You are doing a good job but I think you need backup as it's such a complex issue.

I think the council has a duty of care to house someone homeless but they would have to follow the rules of the place and some one with a addiction would not be able to take drugs there .

This is Britain in the 21st century. It's utterly disgusting and local and national politricktians should be ashamed of themselves. Housing Options in the city is a waste of time. There is no excuse for homelessness. £20 for a night, that's £140 a week. That's social housing rent for proper accommodation. Why aren't we building social housing? There are so many flats going up in the city centre, esp around the Baltic triangle all private. There is so much student accommodation and air B&Bs in Liverpool, no wonder there's a housing problem. Maybe do a film about all the new building juxtaposed with the homeless in our city? Sometimes you have to make people really uncomfortable. Let's not forget too that the construction industry is notoriously corrupt too. Combined with the council, that's a toxic combo.

Normally you know when someone is actually homless because you would see them every day and walking around at night and they would look really tired and dirty thats. The most real homless
