This is what I'm kinda missing in DR 2.0. Just pure rallying. Long stages, a lot of stages, a lot of danger on the road, and the car being actually fragile just like in real life. You can tell he's driving the car the way it was driven back then, not as hard as the car can go. Hope we can get something like this in the next WRC game. Watching a bit of this event honestly makes me want to go ahead and download RBR and go rallying (ideally with a stick shift, which I sadly don't own).

RBR is so much fun. I run my stick in sequential mode so i can just bang it up and down. I highly recommend RBR and getting a stick, hrs of entertainment.

Rallysimfans plugin is free so why wouldn't you? The graphics can look a bit dated but it depends on the stage and whether you are using a reshade or not. At best Richard Burns Rally can look almost photorealistic in a weird retro way. Check out Gabiria-Legazpi 2004 or Torsby for example.

Man, Safari Rally was included in a lot of rally sims before. I clearly remember it in Rally Trophy sometimes about, hm 2002? Which is funny considering your "finally" - mentioned with a sim ticking its teenage age off (RBR) :D.

​@@ViktorJanebaWRC 9, 10, Generations and EA WRC (2023) all include a Safari Rally location, but those games have maybe a couple dozen km of stages. Nowhere near the 300km of brutal stages in RBR. Just having the location doesn't necessarily mean the game represents the rally. This is a true simulation of endurance for both man and machine.

Man your crazy doing it in one go!!, i did one leg each night and that was hard enough. I got through all the crazy safari stages and then on ss32 I just carried too much speed and ran out of talent. But this was probably the most fun and immersive sim rally experience that I've ever done 🙂 Also Thanks for shining a light on the rbr community once again 👍

Loved watching through this at 4:15:00 in. Great to watch the longer streams from Yourself, Jardier and Janne Lahannen. I'll join a rally once I improve somewhat. I love this game more than dirt and dirt 2.0. Only had a wheel about 6 months. Practicing on Tanner 2 so far. Nice short stage. 3:32 my best so far. About 3:17 stage record. 👍

One of the reasons NGP does not enforce clutch use is that even a syncronized gearbox can be driven without clutch, you just have to take care of matching RPMs of the gears. As there is no shifter hardware (yet) which would let you prevent engaging a gear if done without proper clutch use and/or matching shaft RPMs, it is pointless to simulate that exactly."

I have one of those knockoff xbox one controllers, been playing around with the settings for the past few days. On the slower cars it's fairly okay, just have to remember not to mash the stick too much and be gentle with the inputs. Tried the Fiat 131 which is rwd and it was alright, again trying to be gentle with inputs. Haven't tried the faster cars yet. Oh and awd is pretty pleasant to drive, drove the Audi 200 on rallyx track and loved it.

I tried GT3 & 4 on an emulator but that was a no go for my potato PC. Ig you have any other low system requirement racing games that a re good with a controller please feel free to suggest them

@@liveandletdie138 In theme of rbr there are many older games around that era, which run good on potatoes atleast they did on my old dell, ther is GTR2 more of a gt class game, the game has a 24h mode which I found interesting and handling was ok on controller. And as many older games great mod support. On the same note there is Race 07. More like a touring car game, I think it had official wtcc licensing and great modding too, there is late 90s btcc mod which is awesome and it was even drivable on keyboard so I think controller shouldn't be a problem. That's the two on top of my head if I remember more will write them in, but those two ar awesome and from what I remember pretty cheap on steam. Edit: Went on my steam library and found some other games. In short. BAJA: Edge of control, a offroad baja truck, baja beatle and other types, has open world and career. MXGP, if you are interested in motocross, the first game was similar to wrc 4 in the sense of career mode, on that note wrc 4 or 3 stages get repetitive after a while but more arcade than rbr even drivable with keyboard. And for something American *eagle screach* nascar 15, a nice change of pace and interesting to see how things happen over the lake. I think there were older f1 games too like 13, 14 but i didn't test them on my old pc so don't know about potato compatibility. And for something newer there is art of rally, nice indie game, with topdown visuals, but the physics are pretty solid, I like to somtimes play it as a chill game, the handeling takes some get used to but it's very rewarding and relaxing once nailed in. It focuses on older cars and has amazing soundtrack, and the updates they bring out are free. Might not be so potato frendly, but maybe your system can handle it.
