That rear ending gets worse and worse every time I see it 😅

Enjoying this series - i was going to say (just before "the moment!") that you looked like you were enjoying the race and the challenge. The nice thing about MX5's is there are that many splits you're always in a close group around your own skill.
@DDFRacer4 жыл бұрын
Oh it was an awesome battle and I think I could have potentially been in with a good chance of coming out on top since the cars ahead were rather feisty. But on the same hand, the feistiness was the cause of the events that transpired so I guess it would have happened sooner or later 😅 but plenty of valuable lessons learned here about when to race and when to concede, that's for sure!

Ouch! Pretty close racing till that point. The excitement returns. Thanks

Cheers Sam! Not sure if I'll have a guest *every* week but it's been good so far. Now I'm out of rookies I don't need to double up on my Mazda races so don't need to mix things up with the format too. It'll probably be 1 x Skippy/USF2000 and 1 x Mazda race each week from now on with a guest sprinkled in every now and then. If I play my cards right I could _potentially_ have some incredibly awesome guests on the channel, but I'll play it by ear and see how things go 👍

The quality bins you have come to expect on the channel 😉 happy I didn't disappoint you John, although I think I'm going to need something a little more substantial than a fresh pair of underpants after that kind of rear impact...

Will do! I'll be scaling back to only 1 x Mazda race per week now, but have also just purchased the USF2000 and the Skip Barber so will try and get those races in too next week 👍

I can confirm that it's always the races that you don't record that end up amazing! I was sure you were a lot further along side that car into turn one too. Never mind one of those live and learn races!
@DDFRacer4 жыл бұрын
I've learned to just start recording *everything* and then do post-commentary if it turns out to be good. My hard drive doesn't quite agree with my decision 😅 but that's another story... As for the incident, just one of those things like you say. I was convinced too and was sure he came across me at the apex but upon reflection I had no idea I was turning in so much. Absolutely no excuse for the guy who came steaming in from behind and drilled me though 😲

I remember that very well Sticky! After a year of driving my ring off, to end the season at Le Mans in that way with Aidan was just a massive deflating feeling, very anticlimactic. He does some awesome videos, although the copyright issue was a *massive* shame, but the more recent discussion style videos are great. He does his research, knows his stuff and always presents a compelling case either way. He's a great lad is Aidan, great lad, great lad.

Hard luck Dan, but at least you still gained SR which is the main thing. Hopefully getting out of rookies will get rid of the random rear ending!
@DDFRacer4 жыл бұрын
Apparently I was already out of rookies for this race and already had my D license! It snuck under the radar but in the previous race I had an instant promotion since my rating went above 3.5 and...tada, top split madness just like that 😂 oh well, like you say, I still gained a little safety rating, even if my iRating suffered. Plenty of chances to make up for it 😉
@newcastlegeorge4 жыл бұрын
@@DDFRacer that definitely makes sense, I was surprised how big a jump up in pace your opponents had compared to other races. Does that mean you do some different series, or are you sticking with the MX5s until the end of the series?
@DDFRacer4 жыл бұрын
I'll probably stick with the MX5s but only do one race per week instead of two. Was doubling up to try and get my license a little faster and, hey, it worked! Skip Barber and USF2000 will be on the cards for sure, probably Ferrari fixed too, but not enough time to do them all each week so will need to pick wisely 🤔

Love the Iracing videos Dan. I would love to see the next Iracing series you do deal with when you actually get out of rookie and have to decide which content to buy. That's where a lot of people like myself drop out. You can continue to do just the "free stuff" which gets really old. Seeing that I was going to have to plunk down $150 or so for a season of the Skippy or GT3 was a deal breaker. But I would love to see your take on it. Take care buddy.
@stickdeath19804 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's pretty Nut's the cost But i found a series i wanted to run and just paided for that then planned my next series out.Don't think i could ever get sick of MX5's and skippys..Pro Mazda's are super awsome to
@DDFRacer4 жыл бұрын
Cheers Jason, glad you're enjoying them! Skippies are definitely next on the menu and I also recently realised that USF2000 is a D license option too so I'll _definitely_ be trying them out, since the very early days of the channel were pretty much exclusively rF2 USF2000 races. Love those cars! Thanks to the very generous RomanticsWB I can try out a few different things and report back to you 👍 can't wait to see what else iRacing has to offer.
@cowboy80384 жыл бұрын
You should try out the sim lab production car series. Along with the skippys it's a great next step up. It's multi-class with the MX5 plus the Jetta and Solstice or the Mustang if you want to buy it. Good selection of paid and free tracks. Different race lengths including sometimes one or two pit stops. Typically good, relatively clean racing. By far my favorite series on the service *Note this upcoming week is not the best example though as it the one time its running an oval and not road course.
@DDFRacer4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the heads up, I hadn't even considered that series 🤔 will give it a look if my schedule ever falls at the right moment for it!
@DoriN124 жыл бұрын
25:43 Honestly, I can't blame you for that, but I can blame the overtaking driver. He was responsible to leave you enough room on the exit. If you go through it super slowly, you can see that he had a slight correction there, perhaps spooked from the fact that you're still there, he turned left abruptly and completely shut the door on ya. You might encounter lot's of people driving through their rear view mirror in lower splits, so best course of action as you're farming SR is to avoid going side by side all together. Once you get to splits that are around 2k IR and above that kind of nonsense will stop happening, mostly... (: (I know this was a 2k sof race, but mostly because you had a 5k guy in the front)
@DDFRacer4 жыл бұрын
I thought perhaps he lost the rear slightly on apex and then slide-corrected into me...but I also thought perhaps I could have netcoded into his rear left slightly and tipped him into turning across my front a little. It's such a tough one to call so perhaps best to call it a 'racing incident' but I've learned to be more aware of these things in the future. As much as I like to think the racecraft I've learned from rF2 and RaceRoom applies in the iRacing world, I'm often reminded that it means absolutely nothing at all. I've noticed a very defensive mentality from others in the few races I've done so far which is good because it feels like I've really earned a good result when I get one 😉

Got murdered on Saturday on that track! And there is a setting to turn the mouse off in a race!
@DDFRacer4 жыл бұрын
I was sure I'd enabled that setting to deactivate the mouse, but it keeps on coming back 🤔 my HUD keeps on moving around too so there's definitely something funky going on with my settings somewhere. Will have a play around...

@@DDFRacer My personal favourites are the Porsche 911 GT3 cup car, Porsche 991 RSR GTE, and the Ferrari 488 GT3. The Dallara F3 is an amazing car as well but i’m not that into open Wheelers. If you’re into open wheelers, I think the F3 will be your favourite.
