The hook with the stitch counter could be great for when you chain for a blanket. Imagine needing to crochet 300 stitches, so crochet 10 stitches, then hit the button. So you only hit the button 30 times, and you can make sure you don't loose track of where you are. I personally couldn't see me pressing that button for every stitch, but counting by 5 or 10 sounds super helpful

For a yarn bowl I use a large metal ikea bowl (BLANDA BLANK). It doesn't have the little cutout to feed the yarn through, but you don't really need that. I just set it on the floor below me while I sit on the couch and crochet. The sides are smooth so the yarn unravels super easy, it's heavy so it doesn't tip or move, and it keeps the skein from running away.
@theresespencer28279 ай бұрын
I also use a metal bowl to hold my yarn. I use a medium binder clip on the side and slip the yarn through the metal loop handles. It's super handy to stow my hook and project I'm working on.

I saw someone make a yarn bowl out of a hat box. They just made a hole in the lid of the box and put a washer inside the hole. Now they can put the yarn inside the box, pull a thread through the hole, and put the lid back on to keep the yarn from getting dust on it.

Both were higher priced compared to the other single & oversized ones. Then I got a double holder. One on the cheaper side. My husband is using it for a pattern to make some for his wood shop sales. The magnets won’t hold a regular sized skein. So make sure you read reviews & remember the saying…you get what you pay for. Happy Hooking! I have one of the wooden yarn spinners. It is fantastic. I love it. I used to do center pull, but the spinner is so much better. I found that cotton yarn skeins tend to lose their shape and squish down (the same way the 2nd skein you tried on it did), which then makes it catch and not spin freely. So what I do is wind it into a cake and it works perfectly.

I inherited all their crochet supplies, patterns and yarn when they passed away. For the ring counter I have a package of 2 from my maternal grandma's crochet stuff I inherited and i use it on my middle finger on my left hand and I use it to count rows for me when I'm making baby blankets and plushies. Especially the plushies because the stitch counts change almost every row and I lose track of the rows easily. I've got too much of a tight tension to use those crochet rings.

It was basic stitches, magic ring, single crochet, long single crochet and using back loops. I used a 10.0mm hook with Bernat Plush big yarn in the color after dark to start the bottom. When I got to the sides I moved up to a 11.5mm hook. I added plastic canvas to the bottom and sides to give it sturdiness. It ended up with a circumference of 13in but I reduced rows and stitch count to keep it manageable. Now I am using another modified version of it to make a blanket basket with Hobbii Ribbon yarn.

Instead, I use this silicone “pop it” toy that has numbers up to 100. It works amazing for smaller projects like amigurumi. I have another that goes to 30. I also have a clickable counter for knitting that goes to 100. Those two methods are my favorite. I actually have a ring that I love. It’s bendable and sized for plus size fingers. I love it and it has made my tension more consistent with my amigurumi. I love the hooks. I think I have the same set. The square thing, I haven’t ordered because it seemed flimsy to me. I use a crochet ring that has numbers on it and you twist it to count rows. Knitter’s Pride makes it. I got it off Amazon. Best tool I’ve ever used. It’s so easy to use. I put it on my thumb.

My hands lock up and cramp up a lot very easilly and for me the rings help me crochet longer without having that issue so def recommend them for people like me who have hand/mobility issues and or dyspraxia haha

Hey Holly, about your loose crochet heads I have the same product you mentioned and a quick suggestion is to screw in the head until you hear and feel the click! Love your channel, been a follower for a while now and you’re so amazing❤

I love the digital row counter. I use it on the hand that holds the crochet hook on my ring vinger

the last one spins really well if you hook it above you! mine came with a hook. the yarn spinning strap is literally my favorite yarn tool ever. i also to hook to my purse while im at appointments. & in hospitals/dialysis (im a frequent flier) ill hook it to iv poles and it spins perfectly. Youve definitely pushed me to get a wooden magnet one for at home!

They have so many new things for new crocheters. I still make balls for some projects. My favorite is the center pull. They didn’t have all these things when I started.

I just started using a yarn bowl and personally I love it. I even like hand winding the yarn

For the yarn caddy (walking yarn holder) you can put a cake of yarn that is larger than the base and it holds it just fine. My husband has 3D printed a few for me. I use mine all the time. I agree with you on the magnetic yarn holder. It is my all time favorite.

Hi, thanks so much for showing all of these yarn work aids. The rings look especially helpful, and the spinner, fantastic ! Also the beauty blender hack looks great for those of us with a touch of arthritis 😊

I like using rings for scratchy yarn like wool to prevent “burns” on my finger. They are also good for super slippery yarn like bamboo.

I have one of those little cute counters in that color and I use it to count rows on my knitting machine! Love the yarn holder. I might need one of those!
@HollyAuna9 ай бұрын
What kind of knitting machine do you have? Luckily my lk150 has a row counter built into it it’s positioned where every time I slide it back-and-forth it counts a row somehow the machine hitting this lever 😂 but I just got a circular machine as well and I don’t think it has one built-in. Maybe I will use it for that! I really love the yarn holder so far !

The yarn spinner will work perfectly with caked yarn. I always cake my yarn because the figure 8 style wound skeins always have yarn barf 😅 personaly i use an old 5litre pickle jar that i made a crochet cover for as a yarn bowl XD I do own the crochet rings. I use them for things like jute that cause excessive friction and make my finger sore

I use crochet rings! And my favorites are adjustable and it helps me not to strain my hands too much.

Omg I wasn’t convinced on the magnetic spiny one but now I desperately want it

The ring counter works well if you keep getting interrupted while crocheting and losing your place. I used to crochet at work between customers and I would do 5-10 stitches then click it up to match so it's not as annoying but still keeps my count accurate. or sometimes i use it if i'm watching a show and getting distracted a lot

This is the first video I've watched on your channel. Thank you for the reviews! I was especially curious about the magnet ball holder. I'm going to order it. It looks like it will work as i hoped it would. Yes! Please do more reviews on craft items.

I have so so many of those little counters that look like watches. I put it on my left thumb (I’m right handed) that holds my work and I have gotten fast at tapping it with my other thumb after every row. (I don’t use it for stitches) and it’s so helpful for stuffed animals!
