Same thing when people criticize musicians or any artist for being overly "technical" or lacking soul. Some people have a different level of talent for a craft, they make it look so easy that someone unfamiliar with the art form can misunderstand them as lacking emotion, when the "soul" they thought the other person had was just them compensating for a relative lack of skill.
