I watched this movie in US , in 2005 , when was in Atlanta, just finished my Engg and started a career. But after watching this movie in the one and only hindi movie theatre in Atlanta, I wept the entire night. I stayed there for four yrs snd every minute I listened to this song made me cry like a baby. Then one day I decided to quit everything and come back to my homeland. I haven't regreted it ever since. Now I m in kolkata, working in a university as a professor. Yes I dnt earn in dollars anymore but I have more than what I ever had in US. I love India. i m a proud Indian. jai Hind

Well done Ma’am. We realise the value of our homeland once we go out of our country. I got assignment from my company & I had to shift to Sri Lanka for 6 months. Everyday I used to miss India & my people. I tried my level best to wrap up the assignment & came back in 5 months. The flight landed in Chennai International Airport. I could feel my moist eyes. That day I promised myself..if I earn enough money, I’ll go for trips to other countries but I’ll never plan to settle there for long time. Amader desh ta khub mayabi, Ma’am. Eke bhalo na bese para jaay na. Er theke dur thaka o jaayna. Take care 🙏🏼

Jai Hind! This inspiring song is the reason I stayed back in India after engineering college. When all my friends were insulting the country and talking about building a better, richer life in America... there were other thoughts in my head. This was the theme song of those thoughts. Stay back and use your brain to build the future of India. Not a country that you have adopted. Jai Hind!

The potential is endless and there is opportunity for those willing to put their backs into it. The emigration bubble has long burst. I was in US for 6 years starting in 2015. I literally did not see or listen to this song for the first 3 years. I avoided it because I knew it would bring me to tears and on my knees begging to go home. When the days to come back came nearer, I would listen and sing this song. There is something about these lyrics that transports you to those little roads, homes, family members and festival celebration. It's like going into a trance. Now I am back to India and have listened to it with pride and reverence. Love you India and no other country can be better than you for me.

After clearing my IELTS exam somehow I stumbled upon this masterpiece movie. Back then I wanted to live in a developed country and become rich. But now I realise that I have to be here in India for my own happiness because the time I get to spend with my family and friends here cannot be traded for money and living standards that I may get living abroad. My India will become the most developed country in the world and I want to work for that along with my people. I don’t want to live in an “already developed nation”. Moreover no other country can be better in terms of our food, culture, unity and diversity. Thank you SRK, Ashutosh Gowariker, Ayan Mukerji, Javed Akhtar, A.R Rahman and all the people behind this wonderful creation. Ashutosh Gowariker, has really made this movie straight from the heart. It has none of the ridiculous clichés one is typically used to seeing when one sees a story about an India returning home. He has captured something which perhaps no other Indian movie has - that love for ones country can be strong without making an excessively big deal about it. It is a long movie. But I think the rather leisurely pace of the movie is required because it gives enough time for the protagonist, Mohan Bhargava, to come to India (with his mineral water and caravan) and start to fall in love with its beauty as well as understand its incongruities which frustrate us all as well. I thought there were three moments in the movie that captured it all 1. The feeling he gets when he starts to land in India. All of us feel it. I do even today. It's called coming home. 2. The mineral water - that is a classic. In fact it is a character of its own throughout the movie and plays its own part! 2. The boy serving water at 25paise to the train passengers and Mohan Bhargava's reaction I am saddened that Indians both in India and around the world have not liked this movie. It will be remembered as an epic. 2.

Returning TO India I’m 30 years old and I’ve lived in Australia since 2013 and have worked in various jobs. While Australia has offered many opportunities, I found that I wasn’t satisfied on a deeper level. Despite the financial stability, I realized that material wealth alone doesn’t fulfill me. I frequently visited India and felt a deep emotional connection every time I left, which made me realize that India truly feels like home. Australia, while offering a high standard of living, has its own set of challenges. The cost of living is high, and the focus often seems to be solely on work, with little time for personal fulfillment. The migration rules and overall system sometimes feel restrictive, and I don’t experience the same sense of freedom that I do in India. I’ve also traveled to other countries like the USA and Canada and observed that while they have their own strengths, they also have their own set of challenges and societal issues. The sense of community and connection I feel in India is something I deeply value, and I believe that being close to my roots and my land will bring me greater personal satisfaction and a more meaningful life.

I have been living in Europe for the past 7 years, working in an IT company. I also have a strong desire to return to India. However, upon reflection, I realized that I have a family to take care of. If I were to go back to India at this stage, I fear that I would struggle to find a job. I have dedicated years to my education and establishing a stable career, and if I were to return to India, it is unlikely that I would be able to secure a job even at a salary of 40,000 per month. These thoughts have given me pause and made me think about my situation. Beside this love this movie and love india 🇮🇳 Jai Hind!

I said it once, I'll say it again. This is SRK. Yeah he has the stardom doing those romantic movies, but his phenomenal acting is so underrated. He deserves to be where he is today. Till this day, this is my favourite performance from an Indian actor

No greatest of great hits of Indian cinema can ever come close to a classic a ever green movie like 'Swades'. As an Indian staying abroad i watch it again and again and again and reminds me of my great mother land. The railway station scene where the boy sells water for 25 annas and counts the paisas stands out and the emotions by SRK displayed is awesome. Each time I watch this scene I loose my emotions. Hats of Ashutosh Gowariker and SRK for such a master piece!

please never ever apply for PR there and come back when you have made enough money. India needs people like you. We have to become a superpower within 30 years from now. Even though I have my student visa interview in June, I am sure that I will return back to India soon.

I left Bharat in 2018, completed my masters in 2020 and now working as a scientist in a multinational company. I thought i was living a comfortable happy life until i visited home last year in October and realized how out of place and unhappy i am in the US. Today I mustered up the strength to watch this movie and cried throughout half the movie. Reality has hit home and I realize how even though i am earning huge dollars my life and soul is a empty as the posh apartment i live in.

I'm from Bangladesh. I understand Hindi as well. Everytime I go to abroad, I always listen to some Bengali, English & Hindi songs which remind me of my country each & every moment. This song is one of them. This song doesn't promote ultra nationallism which many other Bollywood films propegate. This song reflects the true human emotion for their origin & teaches us the real patriotism which is based on love, respect, responsibility and sense of belonging!

When you live abroad, it hits even harder! Seems like you’re living a meaningless existence and millions of underprivileged children like the water boy in the movie replays in my head all the time. I wish life is courteous enough to give you a chance to do anything for your homeland!!!
