The P = 2L + 2W P is the distance;ce around the shape, thus adding makes sense here. A rectangle has a length and width, 4 sides. If the length is 5 and width is 10. Let’s call the bottom width, and the sides which is the length. We have a top and bottom, so 2 x 5 and we have two sides, so 2 x 10. Now, we must add the two in order to find P(distance around.)
