Thanks Mike! Side note story:.. In the 80's I played in a Christian band.. One time in the studio.. we had a demo tape on the reel and unbeknownst to us, Phil Keggy was in coming in for a session and he played on our track as a lark.. It sounded awesome! I don't know what ever happened to that track but it sure was a thrill for us to listen to his playing over our humble band.

This is intriguing. John and Paul putting a lot into this recording (I am always impressed that John came up with such great rhythm parts even though he doesn't seem to have thought of himself as much of a guitarist), but Ringo and George seeming to be just sitting in. I mean, when have you heard that Ringo wasn't keeping a perfect beat, even on a matchbox? And George just fiddling around while Paul takes the major lead guitar, which I would expect George to be able to do with no problem. Perhaps, as suggested in an earlier comment, some discontent was beginning to seep in.
@vicbertfartingclack45599 ай бұрын
John was an outstanding, and criminally underrated guitarist. He may not have thought of himself as great but he was nevertheless great.

Re: George's sparse, "noodling" guitar part. Perhaps George was in a snit because Paul was playing the lead OR Paul played the lead because George wouldn't play it the way he wanted it. We'll probably never know. Anyhow, until your video I never thought about how seemingly haphazard this song is put together. Anyhow, I've always thought Paul's lyrics on this to be quiet Dylan like, with lines like "You were above me, but not today The only difference is you're down there I'm looking through you and you're nowhere"

@MPfrance9 ай бұрын
@david - I don't mean this sarcastically - but FYI - if varispeed was used I would have said so in the lesson. Having played guitar for more than 60 years, it's quite easy for me to hear when a capo is on a guitar neck. Plus - when varispeed is used - guitars have a very recognizable timbre.
