Awesome... From helping in reading journal papers to programming, ChatGPT is a boon to materials informatics.

I love it man! thanks for sharing this with us! I found your python playlist and have been using it since then to learn about python and for plot my data on my master thesis. it is nice to know that you do/did the same course as me in materials science and engineering best regards from Brazil!

Bit of a silly question but what app are you using for voice control? Windows 11 Voice Typing I'm guessing? It seems very accurate, even for specific industry terms, which is impressive even in this day and age. With CGPT, I finally feel like I have a reason to use it instead of typing everything.

Perfect.. I've recently started the intro to python for materials science. ChatGPT would be great once I know what it has written and what to modify.. that is after I complete the python course and work out some exercises on my own. Nice touch with that iron man stuff btw.. lol

Yeah, I think you do need to know some of the basics, but it's startling how quickly you could use this tool to make the scripts that we expect students to make by the end of the semester after learning Python

Taylor I was wondering if you can help me to understand and prevent some plastic parts from creeping? I have an invention and it’s on the market. I have made some small plastic parts. I am nowhere as good as you with math but I wonder if you could help me? I saw your video and these little parts are constantly under load. I can pinch them back to clasp on again but never as original molded parts. Is there away you could possibly look at this with me. The parts are made out of Delrin. Anyhoo thank you Taylor. 😊

Plastics are especially prone to stress relaxation and creep. Are you willing to use a non-delrin option ? Four options here readingplastic.com/creep-resistant-plastics/

Its been awhile since I have coded in python or any language for that matter. This could make it easier for me to pick it back up some day. Though I don't really want it harvesting my data... Nothing is free in this current world. I think the tech in general will help with a lot of things especially material sciences.

Yeah, in the past we have spent a semester trying to teach students the basics of coding. By the end of it they are able to build only the simplest of things that you could have chat GPT construct for you on your first or second day of use. To me, this feels like what we should be teaching students how to use instead of learning the syntax themselves, teach them how to interact with tools that generate the syntax and then show them how to debug when things go wrong

Love you man , I am your biggest fan, I will try this today , you made my day. I will watch it in detail. could you comment how it is different then matplotlib ?
@TaylorSparks
@TaylorSparks Жыл бұрын
It's the same as matplotlib, it just does all the syntax for you! You can use this to get started, and then you can or ask it if it's in text for specific tasks and then copy and paste them in. Total game changer

@@TaylorSparks today I used 4 to 5 hour Chat GPT, and I am not impressed , I did experimental PhD, then learned MIT materials project. However, I don't see as game changer. It is surely fast for few things or small codes, however, many times it gives me wrong result of simple questions. Its very doubtful that chat GPT can help in complex problems.😁 just my opinion. MIT materials project has a lot as far as information of new materials is concerned but 60 to 70 % of materials project data is fake as well 🤣. Thanks to my Japanese PhD, we only look at real data. Additionally many softwares provide very easy 3 d plotting. And we can generate 100s of graphs using template in many softwares like origin, then why this chatgpt can be game changer? You can see builtin extensive programming in many materials related simulation softwares..chatgpt is free but certainly not a something extraordinary in my opinion.
