I had the same issue with a D.A.M. 330 reel, freed it up & it works like new!

Bent axle shafts are a fairly common problem, but this one went beyond normal usage. Something hit it or it hit something. This was not caused by normal usage . Glad to hear you were able to get it the DAM working again - Dennis

Sort of an old style reel in a newer style case isn’t it. I don’t really like this kind of anti-reverse mechanism involving grabbing the rotor. I think I only have two reels with an AR that works this way. Most of my vintage reels don’t operate with an AR like this. Great video Dennis, Bent axle shafts are difficult to repair and often the only way to fix them is to replace them. With some of my older reels this just isn’t an option. You did a great job on this one. I was very pleased to finally get another reel in that Shakespeare 2700 series of spinning reels. I’ve got all the larger ones. Now I’m trying to get the smaller ones. I just need two more to have a complete set. This 2700 series of Shakespeare were made by Ohmori and were among the last ones they made for Shakespeare in 1979. They are almost as good as the Daiwa Silvers. - Chris

Yes - it is an older design typically found in the lower cost reels. Most "modern" reels have gone to the A/R clutch, but this design is less expensive to produce, so you still see it in newer value reels - Good luck in your Shakespeare hunt! Dennis

I was wondering on open face bearings, is it better to grease or as sealed bearing use oil? The oil will leak through the open face bearing, but grease will stay put. However, grease tends to collect dirt more then oil. thanks for posting.
@2ndChanceTackle3 жыл бұрын
You are correct. I normally only oil bearings because grease does trap dirt and that degrades the bearing over time - Dennis

Hello Dennis I’ve been enjoying your channel very much and I am proficient with fixing reels myself but I need an oscillation gear for a Daiwa regal Z3500T and I can’t seem to locate the part. I was wondering if you had any ideas?If you can find a time thank you very much. Glenn K. Diawa part # F24-6601

Hi Dennis, Hmmmm ? Could it be the reel was thrown under the tires at the boat ramp to stop the boat trailer from going in the water ?!?! Yeah, that's it, dry desert humour !!! Cheers, Cons
