As much as I loved that ride I always felt something uneasy about it. Most times I’d been to the park it’d be closed and even when I got on it I still held that fear. It’s shame that Tsunami was our only decent roller-coaster but most people go to M&Ds for the water-logs.

I was there and left about 30 minutes before cause it wis raining, a friend I knew was on the derailed carriage and it punctured his lungs

I used to ride the tsunami all the time with my friends, I had a weird feeling that day and left early. Then found out later what happened.

An accident in MandDs was a long time coming. I worked there many years ago. They knew when safety inspectors were coming, and they would try and get everything in order before they arrived.

I remember gong to M and Ds on a school trip two weeks before this happened. Luckily the tsunami was closed the day I went due to weather, but this accident could so easily have affected me. I still think about how that could have been me with an amputated leg and I’m just glad that that never happened to me.

Look them both up, Big Dipper at Battersea Park is one of the most famous ride incidents of all time. Nobody really talks about Big One for some reason

XplosiveGamer105 Battersea Park was my first ever local playground when I lived in London. The Big Dipper train plunged backwards down the lift hill over Whitsun (Spring) Bank Holiday in 1972. It was, unbeknown to me at the time, an old scenic railway design. My late Mum used to tell me it was dangerous and told me not to ride it. Maybe that was one command I am glad to have never defied. It killed five youngsters, and one apparently fell to their death after leaning on a trackside safety rail. I used to love the funfair but this seemed to be the final nail in its coffin. It’s neighbouring wooden Water Chute however ended up in Margate’s Dreamland from 1977, which I did ride several times. A classic, sadly demolished in 1996 after a park takeover.

They only reason he said the rollercoaster was save to ride was because school were going there for trips so they opened the park with tsunami available. My school went to M&Ds a fortnight before the incident

Was there that day, was in the roller coaster ready to go, the operator pressed the green and then realised what had happened, I was only 9, I was meant to be on that cart but me and my friends let people go in-front of us so we could through stuff at out other waiting friends. Just googled this to get more information on it for my English essay. But yeah wasn’t a fun time especially when I would have been on it If I wasn’t so dumb.

this is why you don't buy a ride by a manufacturer who has since gone bankrupt, as there is no one to tell you how to maintain or operate it and its one of the most common causes of roller coaster accidents. such as the Sandblaster and the MindBender
