Scientists now think that a major tsunami earthquake will someday strike the east coast of New Zealand. This is a physics-based simulation of that wave.

Hi Ingomar,I just wanna tell you something, what program do you use?Kinda looks cool
@KandMe13 жыл бұрын
I kinda see it happening a little bigger than this. I don't know how much bigger. Just that it is a result of where the Pacific plate is caught and jammed half over half under just above that dog-leg above NZ west of Samoa east of Java. It is very unusual that weird shape where the plates turn a corner up there. Recently there was some movement from deep down. Immense build up of force there and something must give eventually. I tend to think what has happened in recent years is related to that build up of pressure but also on that fault. I mean if something gives way up there is will most likely be a very big slip not just a slip IMAO.

👋 There was a series of big earthquake events! M7.1 M8.1 & M7.2. Kermadec arc/trench. Epicentres in Kermadec Islands & offshore Gisborne, East Coast North Island. Thankfully only small tsunami occurred. No damage or injuries. Both quake sequences occured offshore however the first one certainly was felt over the entire country! 😱

one more spot. palos verdes and portuguese bend that might slide into the pacific during the next big quake. it could go for significant ways up and down the coasts of so cal.. flooding la and long beach harbors within minutes continuing up the low lying ares for miles into the cities. but the various harbors up and down the coast also.
