Iv done magnet upgrade but only 2 on each side and bearings upgrade wow what a reel cast from 0.5 with great accuracy best bfs fir the money

Shimano ftb, the left and right hand reels have magnet assemblies that are mirror images of one another. Aliexpress ftb all seem to use identical, right handed, magnet assemblies for both left and right hand reels. Right hand wind versions work better out of box. The magnets on your reel tilt the wrong way.

Correct. On this lefty reel the spring loaded magnet assembly is backwards tilting to the wrong way and not giving that dynamic magnetic brake. Right handed ones of this chinareel the magnet assembly is put together correctly

Straight out of the box, I loaded up with my least favourite line some 4strand 4 lb , set the brakes and effortlessly cast 1.66g accurately to 20m and a further with some power. I’m interested to try lighter weight in better conditions but the wind has been relentless.

There are several other methods to in stall extra 4x0.5mm madnests, On the first bank of 4, away from the insertion point. put 2-0.5mm x 4mm in position one and 1-0.5mmx4mm magnet in the second position. On the opposite bank in the 1st position, put 1-0.5mmx4mm and in the 2nd position put 2. You should have your longest casting

Maybe. I just know that anything more than 0.5 mm. anywhere will make spool grind on the max brakes. At least on my copy.

I watched Reel Test and Bass and Bonsai with both BKII and DWU and the casting problems with light lures. B&B used the magnet fix on the BKII. I don't think either one has made a video casting with the extra magnets. I'll be waiting for yours.

So you mentioned a clearance of about 1.4 and that you could add 1.0, but it looks like you added just 0.5 or one magnet. So, did you use two or one magnet?

I didn't do field casting tests for distance and I won't do it as they both cast ok in real situations and I don't care which one will come out on top say by 50 cm.. Tsu is better, if you will be using it with 2 g. or less BUT I would not recommend TSU with braid under PE0.8. C9 casts 3 g.+ ok and there is no risk of line going under the spool.

Great review, very informative and thanks for doing this. Do you know what strength magnets you added please? I have this same reel and just tried 6x N52 grade 0.5x4mm magnets in the same positions you did. This greatly slowed the spool on full brakes but also seemed to slow down the free spool time on the lowest brake setting as well.

If I was to believe the seller it was N42 (which is I believe 30% weaker than N52). Question: do you ever use this reel with 0 brakes (at least I don't)? This upgrade lets you set it to not say to 5 but to 3 or something with finer adjustment when needed.

@@AndrewsKnots Yes, you are correct Andrew....I never use 0 brakes! I have been fishing with this reel for a few weeks now and don't give the magnets a thought anymore. I just tweak the brakes as needed (typically between 2 and 5) when changing lures or if the wind conditions change and the range of breaking I have easily copes with all my needs. Great reel and great tip to add the extra magnets. Thanks again!

How would you compare this to the Fishband PW100/GH100? I have my mind set on a Fishband Clamber Hyper Micro but & one other. I am leaning DWU but the PW100 Enhanced is a compelling reel as well.

hi, only been baitcasting this season, still finding my feet but managing to find plenty of bushes birds nests!😀. have the tsurinoya spirit fox (lightweight) and waiting for the wolf ultra. Is there much difference in leaving the magnets off and tightening the spool tension knob? Have found with the fox I can use less brake and tighten the spool without too much difference in performance. interested to know your thoughts.

Is it possible that the drum brakes have already been repaired on the newer edition reel? I bought a DU ultra KF50S reel a few days ago, but its magnets are fixed, unlike in the video where it moves. I bought 4x0.5 magnets, but since they are fixed, they don't fit. Is this a repair or a casting error?
