I was one of the last true Cornish tin miners at south crofty from 74 to 79 and probably saw the best of its last years . The comradship in the harsh conditions would be hard to beat anywhere and consisted of several nationalities . It was a massive shame and blow to a cornish tradition that ran for centuries and saw cornish miners teach the world to hard rock mine . A once proud industry for father and son for those who were willing to do it gone . I'm proud to be one of those but sad my own son never got the chance to follow in my footsteps and experience an industry of his forebears .

My oldest brother Adrian mined at Wheal Jane, Geevor and South Crofty. Now they've all gone and he's gone too. Very sad.

This is sad. I went to look at Geevor mine last week. Very upsetting to see how this effected good hard working people.
