Our beloved father Tswj Zoo Xiong was born on January 2nd, 1961. He was a loving husband to our mother Kha Xiong of 32 years, father to 5 children, and grandfather. He was kind, patient, caring, strong, but most of all selfless. If you didn’t ask, you wouldn’t know his battles because he never complained. Our father was a fighter, he had been battling kidney failure since he was a child back in Laos and Thailand, and even into his adulthood while in the United States. In 1994, our father had a kidney removed. Our parents relocated the family to Minnesota to be closer to major hospitals for kidney specialists. In 2007, his last kidney also failed. This was the beginning of dialysis for my father. He did dialysis for 7 years until the day we received a wonderful call. In 2014, we were blessed to find out my father found a kidney match. We then proceeded with the kidney transplant. Our families near and far were ecstatic that my dad could finally stop battling kidney failure.
In the midst of the pandemic, my father started to battle Covid-19 at the hospital. At the same time our mother also was admitted to the hospital and she was diagnosed with kidney failure and started dialysis also. Our father fought a tough battle with Covid-19. Unfortunately, his body couldn’t overcome it. Our father gained his angel wings on January 21st, 2022 due to difficulty with Covid-19.
