Bankers are used to set up a gradient level. Means to climb any hill they use bankers. Whereas for Mumbai to Pune section, they use breakers which controls the speed when descending.

You have confused. Mumbai to Pune ( Karjat to Lonavala) is uphill so bankers attached at the end. Opposite is downhill breakers are attached ( only for 24 coach trains).
