Just want to start off by saying that I love the energy you all bring to the table. It's infectious and really showcases what commander is all about. I'm super glad you landed on your feet, even if you're still finding your stride. I took a scroll through the comment section, and keep seeing comments about rule zero not working/power levels being too uneven. I'd like to address both issues. First, to address the rule zero comments. Rule zero has nothing at all to do with deck power level. Full stop. It has to do with setting player expectations for the game they're about to play. If someone knowingly brings a lower power deck, and they're ok with it being lower power, rule zero hasn't failed. That seems to be the case here, so kudos to everyone involved. Now to address the power level discrepancy. Cassius' deck shouldn't have been sitting at this table at all. It's a straight up Thoracle cEDH list. Joe's deck, while tuned well, is far from a maxed out Kozilek. See the lack of clock of omens, metalworker, etc. People complaining about his Kozilek probably haven't played against one with multiple infinite mana outlets. On to Nicholas' Yuriko list! Same story as Joe's list here. It's a fairly powerful list, but it's lacking some of the most powerful synergies available to Yuriko. I'd say it's roughly on par with Joe's list. Now for Gabriel's list. The list itself isn't bad, but it lacks in ramp, card draw, cost reduction, and the ability to cheat costs altogether (really just mono-white things). I'd put it roughly alongside Joe and Nicholas' decks, maybe slightly under in terms of power. Conclusions? 3 of the 4 players were playing decks that belonged at the table together. Those 3 were playing combat centric decks, which all had equal opportunity to pop, and the 4th never got it's legs under it to combo out like it wanted to. Having said all that (and it's lengthy, I know), simply saying that all of the decks can pop off isn't really enough of a defense. Any deck, given room to do so, can pop. It's the consistency with which it can do so that tells its power. With that in mind, neither Nicholas', nor Gabriel's deck was ever going to be as consistent as the other 2. I'm not throwing shade, or anything like that. I was just wanting to maybe provide a bit of perspective to those who thought this was always going to be a one-sided game no matter what. To end (finally!), I think you guys did a fantastic job! Power levels were fine, excluding Cass' deck. Even that wasn't an issue, since everyone knew what they were in for. Much love! Keep up the good work! ✌️

I really dig the background noise & "peanut gallery" guests in each episode. Even in one like this where 1 player's dominating, the crowd chatter keeps it engaging. Plenty of places to find clean video/audio with lots of extra production. I like these a lot for the more casual feel. No other channel gives that vibe.

Cas’ deck was probably stronger than joes. Cas’ is a low cmc combo deck whereas joes revolves around ramping out a 10 cmc creature. If cas hadn’t been mana screwed he had a very good shot at winning and controlling the board. Yuriko can also be strong but I dunno how the dude built his. The mono white deck…yeah wrong table.

I think the main problem with rule zero for this one is that Gabriel is a fairly new player and while he brought the spice for what he had he doesn’t have the amount of decks that say Cassius and I have. I have seen his decks pop off before though so I was confident that we were all playing on the same level. Either way I appreciate the feedback from everyone and am still figuring out how to balance everything without making it seem staged. I guess that’s one of the biggest challenges with these vids. Either way, hope to bring you more enjoyable content in the future. Appreciate you stopping by!

I’m going to definitely agree with the rest of the comment section. 1. Unnecessary dialogue from people not playing. 2. Serious power level issue between decks. (for this recording only) 3. Unnecessarily long video for a short amount of gameplay.

Appreciate the honesty. This was only our second filming day, and we’re working out how to keep the gallery focused on the game at hand. It’s was NFL Championship playoffs in the background, so that definitely contributed to the noise. But I do gotta point out the decks themselves, check em out freely on Moxfield, were all really capable of going megaton. Cash couldn’t buy a land to save his life, and Joe got lucky popping off before Nicholas had a chance to unleash Yuriko. The video is also pretty close to real time, we assume y’all don’t want these manufactured or scripted out. In future vids, we’ll work to focus the group on the game at hand more. Thank you for your support and keeping the comments constructive! We’ll get better every vid.

Looking at the decklists, Yuriko and Odric had no business being in that pod. Kess is a cEDH list and Kozilek is pretty well tuned. I think Gabriel and Nicholas had a very different expectation of what 'bring the spice' meant and it kinda resulted in an imbalanced game.

Thank you for checking out the deck lists and making a fair assessment! While I do think we all brought one of our spiciest decks to the table, Gabriel hasn’t played as long as we have been. I’ve seen his decks go off and I wouldn’t have gone into that game without knowing what each of those decks had the potential to do. It would be nice for everyone else in the comments to make this same assessment as I feel like a quick study of the deck lists will let you know it definitely could’ve been anyone’s game. The problem isn’t that anyone could have won. It’s that Cassius deck is built to interact with decks whose average CMC is 2 and are all trying to combo off. Instead of being able to help the table and make a game of it when joes deck starts to pop he has nothing to do about it and knows it. The most fun games to watch imo are when everyone is playing decks that operate on the same axis (combo/combat/hybrid etc) which doesn’t always equate to power level. The non games tend happen when 4 people have wildly different game plans.

Loving the natural conversations, banter (even from offscreen lol), ambiance, and the fact that people DO happen play OP decks, and there's nothing really wrong with that, it happens, it's apart of what makes Magic fun. Everyone gets their fair share of being able to stomp each others decks. I understand that some people don't like that, and again, that's fine, but I truly did love this episodes naturality. Indeed. There are a LOT of trolls on the internet and in this community in general. I wasn’t responding to your comment but the person underneath. While I definitely don’t mind constructive feedback or criticism I’ll say I’ve had the experience of playing against those decks before and when they get going then it’s very hard to stop. All the decks were made with a purpose and sometimes those decks do exactly what they were made to do. I don’t really consider games like these a “pub stomp”. A deck did its thing and did it well. It’s not like no one had a chance. If you take a look at the deck lists we were on equal ground starting off. If you haven’t had a chance to see them they are linked in the bio. Love catching a new TableTop Jocks every Saturday morning. No problem with the lopsidedness in this game. I have had games where decks that are way lower power level than anyone was playing here just pop off and go berserk, it happens. Cash recognized the game was over early and it would have been pretty cool to just see the group acknowledge the win and scoop em up and reshuffle for game 2!

So it looked like to me that there was 2 relatively cedh decks and then a casually competitive deck being kozilek and then odric but it seems he was a newer player. But yeah cash would've been the best to win the game early but i guess fortunately enough he did get mana screwed so he didn't just win T2-T3 and wrap the games up. Yuriko unfortunately takes a bit to win being yuriko flipping blinkmoth infusion or the other various big spells or wins with thassas.

Isn’t including new people to your playgroup and having fun with your friend, the whole purpose of the game? Yea this game went one way, but thats how commander games work. That just leaves time for another game. Yet another great episode, I think that one of the strongest addition to the edh channels is the little audience when the pod plays. Gives great LGS vibes. Its a little hard to see the lifetotal on the phone because of the lighting. But TTJ’s is definitly a Force to be reckoned with 🤘🏻💥 considering all the options of IHYD, Command zone, edhHijinks etc.

Thank you for the genuine feedback! This person gets it! Yes I am all about bringing all the homies together to play games in general. Whether it be board games, video games, d&d, magic, etc. it’s all about getting together and sharing an experience with one another. This is a thing that happens in games sometimes. Decks are designed to do a thing and they get to actually do the thing! It’s all good too! Working on figuring out the issue with the life total. I think maybe having a bigger apparatus will help, like an iPad or something. Thank you again for the feedback and the love! Appreciate you taking the time to comment and voicing your opinion!

Look, all the decks ran fast mana. Was it a great game, no. It's a real mtg vibe, and this happens. Anyone watching this channel can remember a time they have done this and have had it done to them. CEDH is some taboo, but in reality, it can be tough for certain cedh decks to run at a normalish pod because they are so tuned to fighting other cedh decks. Keep up the great content! Ignore the hate my dude!

One aspect of rule 0 which is extremely difficult, even for experienced players, is recognizing when there is a bad mix of decks, even lower level decks can destroy a more competitive deck if the matchup is bad. For example: a graveyard deck versus a commander that replaces death with exile. Likewise, even imbalanced power can work if the decks all have similar goals. They attempted a Rule 0 and it failed in some way, but that’s going to happen sometimes. Hopefully they learn a bit how to better relate what the goals and interactions of the decks are in the future. Also, if your deck requires your commander on board to work, it’s ok to ask that it not be immediately destroyed/countered.

Even if decks are pretty fairly matched, when people are playing strong decks, sometimes decks just pop and leave the rest of the table in the dust. And those games look really lopsided even though everyone there had a reasonable shot of winning when the game started. As always, I love the vibes on this show. And I was stoked to see Cash! Thanks for the great channel! And as always, we are here for Blerds doing big things!

@@TabletopJocks honestly the main edh channels out there have this (whether genuine or not ain't my place) very doctored format tto there videos there is almost an unwritten rule to not play with power to make it seem like magic is always fair and balanced. this has not been my mtg experience sometimes ypu get screwed on mana sometimes you draw the thanos snap I think (this is not a shot) the introductory styles of some channels creates a level of falsehood to the game play. if Tabletop Jocks is anything it authentic unadulterated unfiltered fun the background is lively yeah focus on the game but also people are drinking and socializing some of fave moments are even in the game but the interactions between yall as humans keep up the good work fuck the noise

Appreciate that and thank you for tuning in! There is a lot of noise but there’s plenty of constructive feedback out there too. I’m filtering through it and seeing what I can use to improve the channel and make better quality. I know I’ll never get it 100% right because that’s impossible but 99.9% is worth shooting for. I personally will never be truly satisfied with anything I put out but that’s what making art is all about. Knowing the more you do it, the better you’ll become. I strive to get better every time I’m at bat and that’s the beauty of it because I’ll always be chasing that goal. Thank you for stopping by and the encouragement!

Quite a lopsided game (hey, it happens even with evenly tuned decks) but I'm liking the content. Having the extra guests by the side was definitely entertaining and made what might have been a bland commander game really fun to watch and listen to. Just that having them all speak at the same time can be a little confusing at them. Keep the videos coming.

This was a fun watch. It sucks sometimes when a game goes pear-shaped that quickly with Joe locking it down like that, but that's just how the draws went. Cassius was mana-screwed, and Eugene was just too good when it hit. I don't think it's necessarily a power level issue (but then again I'm very casual with EDH so what do I know). I will echo what some others have mentioned, that the ambient sounds from the set can be a bit distracting at times. While I loved the Witches adding in to the conversation, the bar noises on top sometimes caused me to lose the conversation. Maybe it would work better on a closed set, but then you lose the whole "gaming pub" experience. Still, lots of fun. I really enjoy watching content with Joe in it!

Been seeing a lot of comments about the game being unbalanced. Just wanted to say this could of gone any way, draw power and luck does come into play. Nicholas could of done major damage to everyone with Yuriko triggers. Gabriel could have had a lot of removal being mono white. And we all know Cassius always has spice. Just bad luck/draws, it can be boring to watch when one person takes over but this was a true LGS experience. It would of been great to have a two game episode, but having this many stars together under one roof I imagine scheduling can be an issue. Great video and great work.

I hear ‘take a look at the deck lists’ throughout the comments as though that should cover the obviously failed rule 0 convo (was that recorded?) Just because you put someone behind the wheel of a race car doesn’t mean they’ll be able to maintain pace with the rest of the field. There was always an unfair advantage in this game and it’s hard to watch frankly. With this group at the table, the rule 0 convo should have ended with power level 6-7 decks all around, whether that’s spicy enough for everyone at the table or not. I want to continue to support this channel.
