@@sunil_bharti27 Go watch the Singapore Smash Final between Wang Chuqin and Liang Jingkun. Many people said that Wang Chuqin played at a level never seen before in table tennis.

The thing is wang chuqin has the more advanced technique. I think this ma long could still win against wang chuqin now, and olympic finals ma long would also defeat him, but you can't really compare 2015 ma long to current wang chuqin bc of the technique. The modern technique is faster, and requires staying closer to the table, and also hitting the ball earlier. That's also why ma long hit's more edge balls nowadays than most other players. Bc he's still not used to hitting the ball that early. Another factor of that is of course his age and physical condition, I think he's had problems with stamina recently, the ma long that's shown in this match was able to hit most balls, but the game is still not as fast and close to the table ans nowadays. I think if ma long had grown up with this technique/ was born around the same time as wang chuqin, he'd be better. Prime ma long is faster (side steps, switching hands), has a more powerful forehand, and is also more brilliant and understands the game better. But if we'd actually let current wang chuqin play against actual 2016 ma long, wang chuqin would probably win because ma long wouldn't know how to adapt and even if he did not fast enough. And it's not just a different technique, european players also have different techniques than asian players, but it's a whole different playing style, it's more advanced, and it's better.

Actually believe that the ma long in this form could actually still be nr. 1 in the world as of right now. He's definitely beating fan zhendong, I think even prime fzd is not as good as this, and the fzd right now is way worse than prime. Liang jinkun also won't be a problem, same with lin gaoyuan, felix lebrun, hugo calderano, etc.. I also think that current wang chuqin would still have difficulties against him. A match would be very close, maybe wcq would still win, but I think ma long would def take it to at least 5 (or 7 depending on the winning sets) sets.
