Timo also stayed a long time after every game to write autographs and take photos with the kids in the arena. Every single kid got a photo and autograph! Not only after the final, after every game Germany played in Malmö. What a legend!

So happy for the Swedish guys, finally after 21 years! 🎉 But hats off to Timo, last win for Sweden in 2002 Timo was playing in the final against Waldner and won in straight sets! Obviously he still got it even coming back after injury at 40+ years of age, a true legend of the sport.

As a Swede it’s great to see Boll still compete at this level, remember watching amazing rallys between Waldner and Boll as a kid. Crazy to think he’s still here, a living legend and artifact!

He might have lost this match, but Boll played very well in this final. A massive comeback win over Falck and making this match competitive: the best I've seen him play since he won his last European singles title...over two years ago. I think he's clearly, and naturally declined since then, but he played some wonderful stuff here. Well played both.

Looking back at this match after his amazing performance in Doha Boll might very well be on the way surprising as at the Olympics. Unbelievable dedication and open minded about changing his style AGAIN coming back stronger. He obviously was still getting back to form in this match and did still make it a tough match in the finals. Incredible. He has now in 2024 beaten Wojin, Li Yan Yu and Harimoto. Two legit top10players. Would love to see annother game with Truls now as he is back on track.

For your information, Qiu is not selected due to extreme poor form. Franziska is still recovering from an injury. Ovtcharov told Ross not to select him due to personal issues that he needs to deal with recently.

The official reason is: They, as well as Patrick Franziska and coach Jörg Rosskopf, decided that in preparation for the Olympics 2024, a long training session (which is hard to fit into their schedules) is more useful than a competition.

I being a left handed player really like Timo Boll. But if somebody wants to super critically analyse timo's game ,his forehand doesn't match up to the standards of his backhand. His forehand loop is always a little more loopy ,slow and ball rises to little more height when he loops compared to other top players
