@@TekShinji Good question. I think that there is a market segment that benefits from simplfied technical choices, and perhaps this kind of product will be better insulated from market fluctuations. Personally, I like the freedom of choosing components separately to create a bespoke build.

AMD APUs are actually pretty good for emulation :) This upcoming "Phoenix" APU sounds like a really interesting step forward, let's hope AMD won't disappoint us like they did with Ryzen 5000 :$ Happy midweek guys

Thanks buddy, I really hope they don't jack up the prices like crazy.

Just re-design the the APU’s to use a new board that as a single ram slot for the allocation of v ram to the integrated graphics

Oh that would be interesting

Am i the only one that thinks SLI was killed due to the 1080 TI? They did show 4-way sli 1080 TI doing 8k60 at which point they locked 4-way SLI saying you had to unlock it with a key , which was a lie we never got that key!!! 2080 TI 1873$ CND vs 1080 TI SLI 600$ CND vs 4-way at 1800$ , 73$ less for 8k gaming. Sucks as 4-way was the only way i had money used cards , then sell 4 4 new

Can you do semi crossfire such as semi SLI Intel was talking about with dedicated/APU? Did Intel ever do that?
@TekShinji2 жыл бұрын
I don't know if you can do that with an APU. I think it would kind of get to the point of diminishing returns or a lot of work for no reward
@wahidpawana424 Жыл бұрын
Amd use to do it. But like Tekshinji says, diminishing returns because of Crossfire. Not many games back then supported multi-gpu setup.

I mean it has got to the point where 1080 ti sli 2-way is still out doing new cards , its very sad even more so the cost, 3080 is 6 fps less then 1080 ti 2-way sli , 3080 ti is 20 fps fighter, wow they did it lol , but 3-way for 600$ is still a better deal at higher fps. which is why they locked it, Why are we paying so much for a card that is out done by a very old card?
@TekShinji2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's pretty sad, SLI is pretty much dead

I was about to say "but power consumption though" and then i realise the current high end GPU power draw is also terrible. And it is really frustrating that DX12 and vulkan has iron out the mult-gpu issues but game devs had just put an end to multi-gpu support .

Imagine what could be possible with a fully native multi Gpu support…
@Thrakus Жыл бұрын
@@TekShinji There was leaks in 2015 about full native multi Gpu support in dx12 , by 2016 microsoft said it would happen. if i recall right dx12 removed full screen mode for windowed full screen witch does not with with sli. wish it had happened.

So sad. I mean I understand why it’s gone because Gpu’s are going so powerful. But imagine how much more powerful they could be…

No way the Phoenix APU will perform like an 2060 max q at 60w, or 1070desktop at 150w or even an 3060m... The tdp will be to low and it will not have enough of bandwidth as the mentioned gpus here have over 200GB/s of memory bandwidth while the phoenix will not even reach 100GB/s. to reach 200GB/s they would need to use 12800mt/s ddr5 sticks. And it they have big fan cache or even hbm on the package it will not be cheap.
@TekShinji2 жыл бұрын
We did say it was a rumor, however, if it were to be true, that would be groundbreaking. Wouldn't it?
@Pillokun2 жыл бұрын
@@TekShinji yeah for sure it would.
@420247paul2 жыл бұрын
it uses ddr 5 and has on die cash for the bandwidth
