Like the unlucky tug said, Gordon has a whole character arc in the book series, really showing the growth of his character. In the 20s, he was pompous, thinking he was the best, then the 50s came and humbled him, then modernization in the 60s came and his siblings, save Scotsman, all met their ends.. by 2011, He retires at 90.
