They were within their rights, Miss Mexico was super prepared and they knew that someone reached out to leave her out, a year or 2 later the franchise changed owners and was the jury of that night Lupita Jones Miss Universe 1991 from Mexico.

Of all the past hosts of Miss USA/Miss Teen USA/Miss Universe, the late Dick Clark was my favorite. Boy did CBS do an outstanding job of televising all three beauty pageants. it is worth noting that the late Dick Clark hosted all three pageants in the same calendar year from 1991 to 1993. What would truly be fabulous is that the production entity that has always borne Dick Clark's name could acquire outright the entire Miss Universe Organization.

Dayanara Torres and Ms. Colombia has almost the same answer but with Dayanara she was thinking and representing the whole world as opposed to Ms. Colombia where her advocacy is centered in a specific region. (the Amazon region). Dayanara also shows that she is more universal having English as her second language. She is a best world representative among these 3 candidates.

It's not a Miss Anglophone contest. Look at all the countries in the contest! It's about the content of the answer, the qualities and performance of the candidate. Take a look at many Miss Universe winners who didn't speak English. The Miss Universe Organization and judges must know that the winner will have English tutorial anyways as most of them learn some English during their reign.

@@alexsdb9712 i guess you missed the part (or just didn't care to factor it in) about what I said that Torres answered the question in an objective way and the other contestant gave a subjective pov. I guess you haven't been noticing the new trend of the MU pageant where non- English speaking countries would try to answer the question/s in English even if they have to struggle with their answers because their effort in doing so will be noticed by the judges. And nowadays why would you choose someone who doesn't speak not a word of English over someone who knows a bit of it. The more fluent they are the less work they have to invest on them. Lately the winners of Ms. U are either fluent or knows how to speak English. Watch the winners in the last decade. The pageant is evolving.

@@lhingsantiago2692 No, I haven't missed that. That result or behaviour has been going on for a long time, they want to try, and that's their decision. But you are showing your bias towards those candidates that had done that in the pageant history, instead of looking at the big picture of the pageants' situations and outcomes. Many did not try to speak English but instead spoke their own tongue. Translators are provided, and the MUO is open-minded. If they are open-minded, then anyone can be open-minded. It's not a Miss Anglophone pageant, despite the pageant being American-based. You must also consider that many many contestants in the pageants' history probably have some form of English knowledge but are sensible to go with what they know best. When it's a serious or crucial time, it's only sensible to go with your native tongue. There's nothing wrong with that. The world is vast. Then of course there is the known factor of contestants (people in general) of having national or cultural pride and would like to speak their language and have it heard or displayed on the big stage. There are unfortunately cultures that do not possess this characteristic as much, and some not at all - they have some type of complex - but too bad for them.

In 93 they were upset because Miss Mexico missed the semifinalists by a little. The Mexican crowd did it in 2007 again, when they hosted the pageant. It's because of the rocky relationship between Mexico and the USA. It's a complex issue, but remember it's not the entire audience but a few rows in back. The Miss Universe Organization knows and expects this to happen in Mexico.

Brasil merecia muchisimo mas, Australia era top 3 junto con Colombia y Venezuela, muy bella Dayanara pero le veia como que le faltaba algo a la niña... It's important to know that it wasn't specifically targeted towards Miss USA. They were a loud group angry that Miss Mexico didn't make it that night, and they believed her chance was sabotaged because of that horrid gown they gave her to compete with. They were also mad at Lupita Jones who happened to be a judge, as if she had a role in it. And then by the 90s, the rocky relations between Mexico and USA when it came to economy, trade, immigration, security, etc. By 93, NAFTA was starting to show its true colours.

Me encanta la actitud de la miss usa al responder la pregunta del top 6 a pesar de la mala disposición de Lupita que le pregunta con cara de culo y con una rabia y una antipatía tenaz. La morena se portó a la altura...y teniendo al público en contra. ......I love the attitude of miss usa when answering the question from the top 6 despite Lupita's bad disposition, who asks her with an ass face and with rage and tenacious antipathy. In the Philippines, we don’t do that to the candidates. We hosted Miss Universe 3 times and the MUO simply loves the Philippines because we are very respectful and very warm host. La era en que las candidatas a Miss Universo de los países anfitriones casi siempre clasificaban, especialmente en los 70s y 80s, pasó. Y no eran necesariamente bellas. Por ejemplo, fíjense, en las de 1975, 1977, 1978, 1980, 1982 y 1987. No soy mexicano, pero creo que en el caso de Miss México, ella merecía haber estado entre las 10 finalistas. Al menos México era mejor que India, Czech Republic o España.
