At this of 62 he is playing with confidence and brisk . But winstonis playing with shaky and not with confidence. By experience he won. U r great sir. Congratulations

You better, I can and I'm 69 AND use the better (in my opinion) REVERSE penhold grip where you use both sides of the blade. If you are a 40/50 something you need to bone up NOW on a solid diet, an exercise regimen and club practise/play.

@@dave4816 Uhh..I'm SIXTY NINE, play TT in the REVERSE penhold style at the club level, slimmer than this guy, just as court quick. Are you some millinial writting yourself off too early into the future? If you are about 40/45 or younger, to ME you are YOUNG.

What a great player, very fast, he has a lot of energy, awesome. he is a penholder like me, I expect to get the same speed and good shape .

I'm 69, look 15 years younger than this player, have the same court speed and oomph, and play with the superior penhold version the 'reverse penhold' grip where you use BOTH sides of the raquet 'ala Wang Hao & the current teenage French sensation Felix Lebrun for superior backhands. Robert at 69.

@@bobmalack481Actually I use Felix Lebrun penhold blade, and K3 on backhand and Forehand. Amazing blade and. rubbers.

At the club level here even 95% of the Asian players use the Western 'shake hands' grip, so when I even play them I get stange looks. After 25 years I discovered this great grip, but your mentallity has to be the Asian thinking, sport dedication, diet, chopsticks (holding) not over weight, and fast foot work. @@ivanlobos7045

I'm curious to buy and try the Truls Moregard octagonal or 6 sided flat blade edge which is 20% percent bigger with a larger sweet spot as it is TT legal. It comes in a 'straight' as opposed to a flared handle if so inclined (me) Possibly the best of all worlds RVP players. @@ivanlobos7045

This is the style of pips-penhold in the 80s. It is very difficult to change your playing style to suit someone in adulthood. He Zhi Wen has become famous over the past 10-15 years with the development of KZbin.

Winston played very well all the way accept , Tu was consistently hitting flat, and i think it was short pimps due to which the Winston could not block at 08/10. well played

You can hear the sound, I think the ref missed the prev point and the people asked him to pause and update the score. The serve was fine.

Is he using long pips? If so, what kind? Seems like Winston had trouble reading the spin on blocks.

Looks + sounds like he's using short pips on the forehand (red rubber) and he probably has long pips OX on the black side. I would think he's probably using a Clipper, or Clipper clone of some sort as well. He's probably using Friendship 802-40 (the normal version, not the mystery version) with a 1.7mm sponge on the forehand (the red side). If not, then I would guess that he has TSP Spinpips of some sort on the forehand

with all due respect i think the most of his serves were illegal. His right hand is distracting , if not blocking altogether, the moment of the ball landing at the rocket (hard to tell which one exactly from the video). If that was true, and again i was not there to see 100% clearly, that was that decided this match as the opponent visibly struggled to receive.

I am 66 years old and I play faster than this two guys; I train every day and I train run six or more kilometers every time I can do. I live in Colombia near to the mountains and this help me to have a good physical condition. Good match, congratulations boys.

I'm 69 and also faster and competive at the club level with players half my age. My secret is inherited youth genes, solid diet, and bicycling. I use the REVERSE Penhold grip a'la Wang Hao and Felix Lebrun.

I'm 67 and certainly could beat both those guys, I train 3 times a week plus league matches on Sundays and from time to time some tournaments.

Pips? Chuck the pips and play with straight up rubbers on both sides.

He's playing with the 'traditional' penhold style where you use only 1 side of the raquet. At 69 l use the 'reverse penhold' where ypu use BOTH sides of the rubbers, 'ala Wang Hao and the current French teenage sensation Felix Lebrun. Robert at 69. Unless you are a re-creation of Ma Lin, you are going to be limited on the backhand side. Robert at 69.
