My daughter and I took an excursion to New Orleans April /23 on the drive back to Canada from Florida. We did so because we wanted to see Tuba Skinny live. They were amazing and we had so much fun in New Orleans. Next morning continued our drive back to Canada.

I ran across Tuba Skinny while searching for more Rod Mason…the Janner of Tamar Valley Jass Band fame…and have bought a couple of their recent CD’s. It’s a great band, and now I’ve found my way to Pops’s which is brilliant. Keep it coming!

Welcome; and thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately I won't be able to 'keep' much more 'coming': at 86 years old and weakening fast, it's not possible.

A great share, Pops. We appreciate being able to enjoy your enlightening commentary on some rarely heard Tuba Skinny renditions of classic compositions. Heartfelt thanks.

This was fantastic to listen to, while watching a muted, TV movie bar fight.

From 1901 until 1929 Porter Steele was acknowledged as the sole composer of "High Society". In 1931 Walter Melrose re-registered the copyright and named himself as co-composer.
This is a great song! I am happy your friend lives on with you through the music.

This is the best except for all those talking. I don't understand them. Once In a jazz club the band stopped and one said, "Let me know when you all are done talking and we'll start playing again," at which most of the audience applauded.

She's a classically trained pianist. Great starting point for other instruments.

I have been following Tuba skinny for 12 years and I think Shaye is a wonderful, player, arranger and all round person. However this version of High Society is a disappointment for me. When I compare it with her earlier 5-4-15 street performance, with Thomas Matchiski on clarinet, and the one Ken Colyer delivered in 1972, (both on KZbin), I think she should revert to these versions, with their detinctive banjo backing. I remember listening to Ken live in the early sixties, and these seem to be more akin to the 1923 King Oliver record that I bought at the time.
