I'm currently listening to this video via a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50x headphones which is plugged into an OTL Tube Headphone amplifier that uses three Svetlana 6N1P Tubes, one is configured as two standard triode gain-stages that are directly coupled to pin 2 on the other two 6N1P Tubes which are both configured as White Cathode-Followers, the output signals are AC-coupled to the headphones via two 470uF/450V electrolytic capacitors, I made the OTL Tube Headphone amplifier myself from an article I found online from the HeadWize website, it sounds awesome, really crystal clear, the amp has a pleasant habit of revealing all the subtle nuances in the music.

Thanks for the education! These will work in my Musical Paradise MP701mk2 preamp. I found a🚀pair🚀 in my collection....Didn't like them in my Musical Fidelity X10d a few years ago. Probably the wrong tube for that application, so I stored them. I'll give them a whirl, thanks! 🎵🎶😊🎶🎵 (Liked vid 4u)

This tube has an exceptional characteristics, it has perfect straight line gm curve. This means, if you use with fixed plate-cathode voltage 150-250v with a cascode, you get perfect square law function. If a pair are mounted so in LTP, you get zero distortion output. It is advised to use it at 250v 7.5ma although it is near maximum, at this operating point it generates a metallic sound that makes female voices golden. By decreasing the supply, it gradually becomes les metallic to be neutral at 150v, 5ma.

Yes this is a nice linear tube, however lots of triodes have similar plate curves. And it doesn't matter what kind of circuit you run it in, you will always have distortion, maybe lower distortion, but it'll be there. We currently have a preamp in development and are running each section at 242vdc 8.5mA and it's working perfectly and sounds amazing (Voskhod 6N1P-EV).

We've wanted to develop a 6N1P Kit Preamp for some time, but it will take some time to get to it. I can't suggest anyone else's design work, one of the main reasons I started designing my own gear was just how bad most commercial amps sounded! Do you guys have a video comparing different plate lengths. Long plate, short plate 12ax7 for example

Really the plate length has very little to do with performance, the sonics of a tube depend on a hundred or more variables, with plate construction only being one small part of the whole.

One change I can hear that is on the negative side. I can hear a bit unpleasant sibilants now, that I have not heard before. No idea if it is the recording, the record pressing , cartridge or anywere else in the reproduction system. Most notable in the left channel with the vocals in the start...

@@RaviNewfarm possibly, but every good recording has at least one if not several issues. We have a large vinyl and digital library to choose from and finding "the perfect" test recording is not possible, so we look for something that is mostly perfect.

What is the difference between 6n1p EV and a 6n2p EV?😂

@@daviddabbs1234 completely different tubes, the 6n1p is a twin triode with medium mu (gain) and the 6n2p is a high gain twin triode that's so similar to a 12ax7, I call it a 6ax7. EV is the higher spec version, similar to the Western "mil spec" variants.
