Totally agree about the Foton 6sn7's, the military stamped ones (not OTK) are the pick of the bunch

Early bottom foil type from 1950's up to about 1969 or thereabouts. Later saucer getter type works fine but sound is meh.

Funny ending! You guys are great and you’ve put together another important topic. Nine years ago I restarted my audiophile journey with a Bello ATC402 Audio/Video Component Cabinet with a glass door I removed for ventilation. Now I have a five foot DIY 3-level stereo rack to allow for swapping gear including my Wilsenton R8 integrated. I am very happy with the NOS preamp tubes I’ve purchased from you. QUESTION: when you filmed today’s video using your Zoom recorder was it connected directly to your camera or smartphone? The reason I ask is I will be receiving a Zoom H6 today and I plan to record some KZbin vids with an iPhone 14.

#173 was recorded with a Comica shot gun mic fed directly into our canon camera's mic IN. We mount the mic on top of the Canon in a flex mount. This is how we record almost all talking segments and it works well. For the money the Comica (Amazon) is a great mic when you are filming in locations with residual noise.
