THE RIDE
Caden wheels are meticulously hand spoked with elbow out wide flange placement on the front and 2 to 1 spoke ratio on the rear to make sure your wheel corners correctly, accelerates without lag & doesn’t make noise. SERVICE
External nipples, sealed bearings & true tension spoke patterns make Caden’s long lasting and very easy to maintain. Our subtle stealth logo’s are hand printed in house with a 2 pack epoxy ink that doesn’t come off unlike stickers that can flap after a few races. For our last wheel print we used less than 10 grams of ink for 40 wheels compared to a single sticker weighing between 1-2 grams.

After riding for many years on kevlar bead clinchers, I bought my very first set of tubular wheels because I saw them for sale at a unbelievably low price. I've now bought some Vitoria tires to go on them. The only thing to do now is to get the right valve extenders and the tape. I'm a little apprehensive and excited at the same time. This is a great video that's very informative. The local bike shops want a small fortune to install tubulars, so I'm going to attempt to do it myself. I 've ridden on Caden tubular 38's for a year now. I use his tape and have had zero issues. His wheels are simply 'eye candy'. I lean those things hard and stomp on them going up hill. I think I feel more confident on the climbs knowing they are tubular light. I run Vittoria corsa g2 25's on them, with no issues. I had a flat at the end of the season, but also with my clinchers, in the same construction spot near home. tubs had a pin hole. I put some latex sealant in the tubs and was on my way next day. If you put sealant in latex tubs, it stops them from deflating over night, as latex does, also if they deflate, the latex sticks together. Folks, pick up my Cadens and go...No wonder you make climbing look so easy, your wheels are super light! I will be trying Caden clinchers this season as well. I can Highly recommend Caden products at this time, and he can assist with any questions...they promptly return emails also...Superb service from this company (and I'm in the states)

Tufo's rim tape is the SHIT!!! It has this thick vibration dampening-ish layer in the middle, and the road feel compared to glues is just MUAH!!!!

Without being disrespectfull 2wards u l just watched a pro peleton bike mechanic 4 one of the top tier TdeF teams glue up a tubular rim & tire . His gluing & the way he put the tubular on the rim was outstanding. He took one shot at it & it was spot on 1st ⏰⏰ . I agree with u on tubeless technology, its bloody rubbish . My tubulars need the glue removed . A big job 2 do properly without damaging the carbon & rims . And l will be going to the tape as u have suggested. Mind u removing the glue has been on the drawing board 4 almost 12 months . And yes tubulars r faster every day of the week & ride so much better . Have just put a deposit on Roval Alphinist 32 clx climbing wheels . They r not cheap . Doubt that they will climb as well as my clx 40's tubulars . Only ⏰⏰ will tell. Thx 4 ur video clip . Great video from Caden Carbon Bike Wheels and I've been using tubular tires for the past 18mths with great results. Applying some sealant from the get go is key as it enables the tubular tire to self-heal on the fly in the event of a puncture. I've recently changed the sealant to Orange Seal (Endurance) as it apparently lasts longer i.e. stays in liquid form longer and have not yet had a puncture.....or any that I've know about. I'm now interested in trying your 3M tape as adhesive and will email you.

thx for a great video! You as an expert how do you determine what size of tubular you cant fit in the frame. Older frames with rim brake has an limit of sizes. can you measure it or is it trail and error (kind of hard to buy different sizes and return once you tried)?

I have seen glueing the rim tape itself...Is that a different technique? They (in another video) were saying it is used for cyclo cross bicycles. My problem is that I think my rim tape slips under the tube once mounted. Is it because my rim tape width is too small perhaps? Or not glued or what else? Thanks,

One other comment I would make is the inference you make between "old" technology and inferior quality or design. Unfortunately the bike industry has suffered more than most in this area where lots of new tech is lauded as better when there is absolutely no evidence to that effect, in fact quite the opposite is often true - but that is beyond the scope of this video.

I bought some new tubular tires for my carbon rims. the old tires were glued on and I'm going to use rim tape to mount the new tubs. I removed as much of the glue as I can, but there's still bits of glue that I sort of gave up on. Is it paramount to remove every bit of glue before applying the tape?

I'm afraid you're totally wrong about gluing on tubulars apart from the fact that it seems to deter some people who do not know better. I have been doing it for over 40 years and there are no such problems regarding flat spots, adhesion and truing the tyres. I think it depends on one's methods. Having said that, I have a roll of your tape and a new set of your wheels and will definitely give the tape a go. In relation to putting on a tyre after a flat on the road, it is easier and quicker but yes you should ride with a bit more caution until you refit it properly. And unless you have a team car with a wheel replacement you aren't winning the race anyway after that - so there is no advantage to any system really. I would only recommend Continental Competition Tubs BTW, in my extensive experience they almost always wear completely out before ever puncturing and their performance and ride quality are second to none!

Only need to really be using glue when racing as a safe guard since your really throwing the wheels around corners. For everyday riding tape is perfectly suitable

Nope. Do pros use tape or glue? Glue. Way more secure. Have been gluing my own for years and would trust no one else to do it. Use tape at your own risk: wrecked wheel and maybe wrecked body.
