I was in Odessa last weekend. Lots of air raid alerts Saturday night & I heard two explosions that I assume were missile/drone interceptions. Potemkin steps were barbwired, statutes either taken down or covered up. It was lovely Sunday morning and there were still lots of people walking around that area above Potemkin Steps.

He has demagogic tendencies, but for a while, especially during the 1st year of covid, he was among the few platforms where certain ideas could be heard. Listening to him was interesting, but about the time the Ukraine war started he became obsessive about Ukraine and quickly slided into being just a demagogue and in many ways, imbacilic and embarrassing.

It´s so ridiculous, yeah. Also Carlson after his purchase simply just "assumes" a price of which a similar set of products would cost in the US and the 400$ he "guessed" sounds MUCH too high for me, he obviously really never needs to shop himself and has someone to do his groceries for him. I´m not an American and know stuff is more expensive there but here in Austria (also a Western country) e.g. the products in this trolley in a comparable supermarket would probably also cost somewhere around 100€ like in the supermarket in Moscow - with an average salary which in Austria is around 4 times as high as in Russia. So Carlson´s framing that the purchasing power in Russia would be higher than in the West (I assume that´s the point he is trying to make) couldn´t be further from reality. P.S.: Why is he throwing all the stuff into his shopping cart like it was some rubbish?

@@jakoflynn2560 EU countries have stepped up their support but it will take 2 years for that to come to full fruition. Russia’s strategy is to persuade Ukraine’s allies to stop supporting Ukraine so it might win in the long run. Macron’s change of policy in the last few months undermines Russia’s strategy.

Carlson shows that he's not used to shop at supermarkets, he has always been rich and he must have someone else do that for him. As a journalist, he lacks knowledge and he should have visited a lot of stores in different parts of Russia and then come up with an idea about supermarkets jn Russia.

Here in the US (my home State of Florida), the grocery stores Aldi and Save A Lot do the same thing with their shopping carts. Instead of 10 rubles, you put in a quarter.

For decent quality fresh food in America there are only a few specialty markets where things cost around +30% over normal grocery. If you're lucky enough to live in a big city. For example ground chuck for meatballs/burgers goes for $22/kg. Seems high to me.

Moscow (and St. Petersburg to an extent) is different from the rest of Russia, when talking about income and expenses. Tucker Carlson was not in a supermarket in Tula or Chelyabinsk. He was in a supermarket in Moscow. The average after tax salary in Moscow is about 2.5-3X less than the average salary in the U.S. Therefore, this particular video is a fair comparison.

Your trying too hard to be anti Carlson. I understand your not liking anything favorable to Russia, but this grocery store has a lot of features different then what we see. What America should find alarming is that the logistics needed to fill stores in Russia are not supposed to be so easy with sanctions. Our policies are not working, and this is of concern. The amount of non essential imported items seen on the shelves is surprising.
