@David Stunning yeah I know that's why I'm not judging, different country, different situations, different way of life, Maybe in this situation tucker need it, but I think in Europe we have to feel lucky to not have to wear guns for our own safety, and not to feel jealous ^^ But of course I feel jealous for the fly😜

There are practice bomb targets all over southern Arizona that were used to train bomber crews in WWII. They only dropped practice bombs on them though. No craters are seen around any of them, including the one on the playa. Practice with live bombs was, and still is, all done at what is now called the Barry Goldwater Air Force Range. That's located east of Yuma.

@pierre I totally understand that! Where I'm from, (New Jersey) we have some of the most strict gun laws. Outside of your house, you're only allowed to transport your firearm to a range and it has to be locked up. In Arizona, you're pretty much free to do whatever. It does feel a bit strange to be able to casually shoot and not get arrested.

If you have not tried to soar the face of Sandia Peak, elevation > 10300', it is beautiful in the right conditions. The eastern slope is much more gradual but highly forested. The western slope is steep. arid and photogenic. Watch the wind , rotor may be bad. You will have to watch out for the Sandia Peak aerial tramway that goes West to East from 6529' to 10422'. it ends at High Finance Restaurant atop Sandia Peak. Decent but pricey dining there. If you want to launch from the east side of the peak there is a decent place to launch about 100 yards east of the parking area at the Sandia Peak Ski area, elevation 8590'. There be deer or black bears about there sometimes.

Pretty sure I saw you flying along I-10 on the northwest side of Tucson on Saturday. We fly our UAV's at Willcox Playa when it's dry and firm enough to not sink in the mud. It can get like deep drywall mud. You also can't interfere with the sandhill cranes when they are there. The South end could be dangerous since the '40s. We're also going to build some land sailers for the Playa's North end...always good winds. Nice flying!
