Yes, that second keg explosion was him with his stronghold keg, you can see his green dust rise right where the second keg exploded. The first explosion threw him through the air. If you pause the vid at the right time, you can even see him flying through the air holding a keg.

TBF, If I get a megakeg on a sloop I'd store it below deck too. above deck stray shots can detonate it, plus lightning, and on a sloop it doesn't matter where you keep it, if it goes the ship is done.

@@Pogiforce exactly just don’t keep it on the sheep at all. Even when I finish a fort of fortune as soon as I open the vault I step back and detonate all the kegs in there. Even if I know there aren’t tuckers.

@@Pogiforce if you HAVE to keep kegs on ship, crow’s nest is the only place to put them (there’s only one tall tale keg that needs to be transported, that’s it). Never, ever, put a keg on your ship. This is what you get when you do. You’ve done all the work someone else needs to sink you.

A few days ago I decided it was time to get one of my mates to join me on his first SoT adventure. Thought we could go do a vault as it's easy and Its the only thing I know how to do. After a few hours of gameplay we were excitedly pulling our rowboat onto the land right next to the gold hoarder and boom. Some tucker came and killed us. We had zero chance of fighting back considering how new we were. Tried telling the random it was his first time. No fucks given. Never going to get a friend online after that. Great game. But the community loves shitting on new people. Very hard to convince anyone to play.

I would recommend focusing more on Bilge Rat commendations. That way, you get to show your friend the game without focusing on loot. They get some commendations, which feel like achievements, and they get to see some of the content in the game. You can also prepare them a bit for PvP - tell them it's likely you'll sink, but agree to be a kamikaze chaos crew and try to do some damage before you sink. Agree to scuttle if either of you feels annoyed. Doing a loot-heavy mission is not great when starting out, because there is too much focus on the loot and too high a risk of sinking.

Loot has a time that it will float. If you touch it and drop it. It will reset that timer. Most loot sinks in 5 minutes
