Lovely to see watches like this, Rolex and Tudor made them and knew that one day a watchmaker was needed to clean and oil the watch again. Great video.

I have the same Tudor watch, and want it to be restored... But finding a watch maker is Cape Town, South Africa is one challenging task.
@FrenchWatchCollector2 жыл бұрын
Good luck with your search. A watch is easy to be sent abroad so don’t only look in your country.

Was the mainspring orientation the same when you put it in compared to when you disassembled it?

Yes the mainspring was wind clockwise in both cases

You can still find some for not too much but they will need some work. I paid mine just over 400€ so it is not too bad for such a nice piece

Really nice job. I appreciate how you are moving forward with the better movements now. I see you have also obtained a staking set 👍👍. Your bench looks really nice; may inquire where you got it? Thanks
@FrenchWatchCollector2 жыл бұрын
Hi Eric, Thank you for you support. I got a vintage staking set and it is very useful. So much tool to get if you want to do a proper job. I got my bench from a watchmaker who got it from a swiss manufacturer. The bench is very nice but I don't have much information as nothing is written on it (brand or model)

I've never seen anybody put epilame on the balance hole jewels (only the endstones). Why do you do it? Also, why didn't you use epilame on the escape wheel end stones? I believe they serve the same purpose as the balance endstones. Thanks!
@FrenchWatchCollector2 жыл бұрын
You are probably right and I can only put epilame on the endstones. I put the escape and the pallet fork in epilame too. You can only see the drying in the video at 13:09 after the treatment.
@jwoodyr12 жыл бұрын
@@FrenchWatchCollector I also use epilame on the escape wheel. If the escape wheel jewels have endstones (just like yours), I treat them with epilame, too.
@FrenchWatchCollector2 жыл бұрын
@@jwoodyr1 Thanks for the tip. I will do on my futur project.
