Split the signal prior, then eq one for high pass, the other for low pass --> B7K

That's how I prefer to run it - that low clean DI really helps maintain the firm bottom end. I've got a follow up in the works on multiband bass tones.

Great tip - The new Blackglass pedal sounds really good. Bass tone is treacherous though. What sounds really good on its own often gets completely lost in the mix - expecially on small speakers. I would experiment with dialing back the mid frequency to around 5-700 Hz and boosting some mids. I find that that really lets the bass poke through in a mix. I guess the grunt is 'just' a resonant low-cut?

So much of a "good" also ends up being "I just give the engineer my DI and they do the rest", which is probably to boost mids :p
