There are a ton of ways to make a rug, but here are the supplies I use. Tim Eads of tuftinggun.com (with no "'s" as shown in the video) has proven to be the most helpful to me in my journey so far. You can use the code "MAGIC15" for 15% off your first purchase :D
Comment below if you have any tufting-related questions. I'd love to answer them in a future video.

@@sulkyblackheart if it can be maufactured in a factory whats stopping someone from making one at home. It isnt some sort of top secret formula. Do you think rugs were always mass produced in factories?

@@lilgrump9730 look dude, I was just trying to give the girl a nice complement. I like her work, I think she did a great job, and she made an interesting video about it. Obviously things weren’t always mass produced. It’s just nice to see ppl take the time and effort to make something themselves instead of just purchasing it in a store. I didn’t know anything about tufting before watching her video and that’s all I was I saying. It doesn’t need to be some philosophical debate where you try to make yourself look like you’re smarter than everyone else by belittling ppl over a simple compliment meant for the artist...

Thanks so much for the specific products you list!! I'm just getting started with punch needling patches and rugs, but didn't know where to turn for specific adhesives and backings. I'd love to hear your thoughts on acrylic VS wool yarn usage too! The most I've heard is a cost VS durability discussion (acrylic being cheaper and more accessible via craft stores and wool just lasting so much longer).

@AJMAKES137
@AJMAKES137 3 жыл бұрын
I use the default height on my gun (haven't changed it yet because I'm happy with the height). I often use two threads of yarn when I'm filling in space. It creates more yarn density, quickly. Then I'll use one string for detail work.

Hi great job thanks for the video this is a really cool way to make art! Does it stay okay with people walking on it? Does it last long or would you want to keep it on a wall so as to not ruin it? I love the font you used for the writing! Do you have to draw backwards on one side to make it show up correctly on the other or is the front of the rug the side facing you like in painting? Thanks! 😊
@AJMAKES137
@AJMAKES137 3 жыл бұрын
When you use the correct adhesive, they are safe to walk on! The only thing to worry about is them getting dirty. They can only be spot treated and cleaned like normal carpets are. No machine washing. And yes, you do have to draw the image backwards. I use a projector now, which makes it much easier!

This is such a great video for a beginner like me! So far I've been using a punch needle to make small wall hangings and was wondering if getting a tufting gun would save me time? How long do the rugs take to make with your tufting gun? And how long would these sized rugs take to make with a punching needle? Sorry if this is a weird specific question haha. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talent with us!
@AJMAKES137

A tufting gun will absolutely save you time if you are punch needling. I recently did a piece using both a punch needle and my gun (which is cut-pile, so it has a different look than punch needle). There are some things that the punch needle is better for, but you're going to get speed with the gun.
