Excellent, a good battle, I think a tracked vehicle will eventually win this based on round 3 being so close. Or maybe a half track, could have a "designed to win pull contest" feature... such as full width tyres+wheels at the back (independently sprung) and then tracks up front with all kinds of interesting suspension / pivot points. Maybe some kind of linkage that pushes the tracks down harder when the tension increases on the rope! Whateve you do I know it will be awesome 👍🍺

I was already expecting sloth to lose before looking into the comments or even watching the actual tug of war. Slippery plastic tracks are at a massive unfair disadvantage to rubber wheels. However, weight and surface area do matter which is why sloth was much more evenly matched or even better in the last 2 matches. If sloth had rubber nubs on the tracks, sloth would probably win all games against most similarly weighted wheel'd vehicles under 8 wheels.
@earthknight602 жыл бұрын
Also, more motors to greater battery drain. By the end some of the tracks had simply stopped moving. Difficult to fight against the 14:1 gear ratio though.

@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines3 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks! Try it out it makes a big difference! It’s very slow but you have so much torque. With just the single switch there’s still limitation as it’s still only a 5:1 ratio and it can stall still. Another option is to switch one lot and then switch the others off the motor to two 16 teeth. This may be the perfect balance of having all the torque you need and it’s not painfully slow.

Awesome fight:) it was a flat draw on the last one till the power dropped a tiny bit and the 6x6 just had it. Any chance you could get a small pull scale and test the physical force some or your creations can apply to a static object? Like rope from machine to digital pull scale, then from scale to table leg or something that shouldn’t move?
@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines3 жыл бұрын
Hi I do that Edward check a few of my other models! Good thinking too😀 I’ve got a leaderboard. The weight doesn’t sound much but it’s dead weight, the 42099 pulls 4.2 KG on the scale but can pull 30KG or 15kg up a 7 degree hill. And thank you😀
@edwardpurkis10843 жыл бұрын
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines you say that weight isn’t much but that pulling force is double its own dead weight, that’s impressive👍👍
@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines3 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks! I was meaning it doesn’t sound much but you certainly understand! Yeah it’s very impressive! I’m impressed the diffs hold up on the 42099! Those reduction hubs must be really strong!
@edwardpurkis10843 жыл бұрын
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines with diffs on real trucks the most common breaking occurrence is gears pushing apart under load, lessening the contact area, increasing force on the remaining and then snapping, if your diffs are held together well then your limiting factor is the sheering force on the teeth themselves, lego gears a quiet strong in the regards, final reduction hubs help massively as they protect everything before them in the drivetrain, and again the same rules apply to gears trying to pull apart under load:)
@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines3 жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s the beauty of the hubs! I’ve also put gearing after the diffs and then the hubs in some builds to take all the pressure off! My first mod 42099 which had 6l motors unfortunately completely destroyed two diffs! That was on my first tug of war video!

@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines from what I can see, vehicles with wheels have the most grip and torque. Can you make a car in the style of an steamtrain. With pistons or something on the wheels that keep the wheels symmetrical and so that they move even

6x6 won because the concepts are the same as a car. Sloth has too much surface area touching the ground for the weight. If you kept the weight the same but only used like 4 tracks, instead of 8, it likely would have done better. Or even upped the weight would have definitely done better
@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines2 жыл бұрын
The slots weight is concentrated on the little rubber studs though? But agree the weight is still spread out like you say! 😀
@mrpanoramix12713 жыл бұрын
Hmm i think in the third round this tracker or how its called should win if he wasn t on such a slippery surface
@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines3 жыл бұрын
Hey it’s not that slippery it’s just two equalling forces make it look Like that. There was rubber left on the floor😀 In a video a few weeks ago I showed how much grip the floor has by pulling 30KG on it.
