For those who are curious about the glazing process of my ceramics, here is an additional note: In the final stage, the ceramics were glazed to give the surface a shiny finish. They were then fired again at high temperature to achieve that glossy glassy look. I received help from a professional friend of mine for the glazing and firing process. This is why I did not include the details of these steps in my video. Since the purpose of my video was not to provide education on ceramics, I did not feel the need to provide technical details. I wanted to add this note for those who are curious about how to make a shiny surface. I recommend that those who want detailed information about glazing consult with professionals in this field. I do not want to provide incorrect information ❤️

Thanks for Sharing! Do you just glaze over your drawing? Wouldn’t it destroy the pattern? I made some pieces but never draw something, it looks so amazing that I also want to try. Greetings:)

Beautiful. You have inspired me to rehydrate some clay. I always need palettes for watercolor and those are truly gorgeous. Mine will turn out way more rustic. Lol
@elyssasasongko5618 Жыл бұрын
@@LadytheKingsmother Hey there! Potter here 🙋♀️ Yes, you put a clear glaze over top of everything to make the surface shiny and to make it impervious to liquids. Then you fire the pieces for the second time (it’s called the “glaze firing.” If you don’t clear glaze over the top, the surface of the ceramic will be matte and also not food/liquid safe. The porous surface of the stone would absorb water and over time get moldy.

@grittykitty50 3-D paper tole, small booklets with simple sewn bindings, small ornaments for miniature holiday trees. Years ago, I used to make paper jewelry (pins). I'll have to get back to that... my problem was finding small enough pinbacks. I suppose I could've tried to use the pieces as earrings, but I hadn't really thought about it. I'll bet your stuff is wonderful. Paper is great fun - and very forgiving, thank goodness.

These pieces are amaaaazing!!!!! Please be sure to be very careful breathing any of the colorant in. If you can do that outside it is best. I have tried sooo many times to make palettes but they always crack. I prefer to do the carving when the clay is pretty dry but I will definitely be trying to do it like you did. I LOVE EVERY SINGLE PIECE YOU MADE!! Please pleeease make more clay videos!! After you get your pottery back from being bisqued you can take some fine sandpaper and wet sand it! It looks sooo much different when it’s been sanded. Doing the back is really important so the piece doesn’t end up scratching the surface that it sits on. Just rinse it and use a sponge to get the wet clay off really well and allow it to dry a day or so before glazing! I just looked at your other work and I am just in awe of what an amazing artist you are. Wow!!

This is adorable - both the things you make and the video is so peaceful! IF you ever do this kind of work again, I recommend rolling out the slabs then leaving them until leather hard, because carving into leather-hard clay is a whole new world of ASMR and satisfaction - I think you would enjoy it. And it's easier to make surfaces smooth too, although I think your pieces are perfect anyway.
