I understand why Salty's Lighthouse wouldn't have had the hostage situation story like the original, but I miss it. Still, for what lines and scenes that could be found, this is a good story, and still a good lesson on not jumping to conclusions.
@SonicJrandSarah11 ай бұрын
Seems odd that they would drop it since Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog had an episode with a similar plot where Robotnik forced a lab rat named Lawrence to drive a robot Sonic to frame the real Sonic while holding Lawrence's parents hostage. I did a Sonic/TUGS Parody a few years ago on that episode and had Lawrence play Sea Rogue. Although the Old Man is instead portrayed by Bert Hoo the owl.

If the voice lines were there, I'd have it so Sea Rogue was stealing parts to help repair his uncle because other workshops didn't have the parts for an older tug. But the green-eyed tugs had Sea Rogue steal barges for parts, claiming they wold repair Uncle, but it was a trick. But that's just my idea were there enough to work with in terms of voice lines.
@SonicJrandSarah10 ай бұрын
@@FireStormDel Something they could have done for the uncle is just have him be resting in the warehouse in the Missing Barge episode and he tells Grampus that the barge just floated inside.

Even though Salty's Lighthouse screwed up Sea Rogue's character, I think this edit of "Pirate" still gets the overall message of the original episode across for both kids and fans of the series.

I find it so funny how Sea Rough and Johnny Cuba bacically switched sides in this show, in Tugs, Johnny Cuba was evil and Sea Rough was a good guy, and in Salty’s Lighthouse, they changed their sides, which is understandable.

Given how the Old Man hostage subplot was discarded in SL- *A deletion that I don’t completely misunderstand* -I was nervous that this episode would turn out clunky and visibly flawed. But apparently SL showed more of Sea Rogue’s in-warehouse shots than I remember, so this still turned out very cohesive. A toast to Unlucky Tug, who somehow did the impossible and made SL faithful to its source material *Pepsi sip here*

Still wish they made a SL story about the green Tugs. Maybe make them his henchmen with snidely banter to boot. Always felt like the segments were meant to be ten minutes with Salty and pals have their own ten minute adventure. Solid twenty minute episodes.

Blimey, this really takes me back... So, I was vaguely aware of Tugs as a child, having seen illustrations of the characters in picture books, but I never actually saw them in action until one afternoon of channel-hopping, happened upon Salty's Lighthouse, and the Tugs section featured clips from this episode. Such a flood of faded memories came rushing through... Ten Cents' happy little song, Zug sounding like Suezo from Monster Rancher, the night-time harbour shots that would look right at home on TTTE series 3... Good times... Confusing, but good.

I was really curious how you were going to work around this episode to make it like the original. It's really clever how you use Captain Star to smooth over the edits to make the stories more similar to originals. Really nice job with this series!

I get the impression Robert Cardona was trying to do something on the lines of this, when convincing the States broadcaster to take TUGS on, only for them to demand more with it than, of course, he was not in a position to. I still respect the vision of the original show which, yes, had more going for it since it was the real deal, but still a great job, this. Richard Browning delivers. Regards, Samuel Farris.
