While red fishing on the water early morning, I watched an old Asian guy 80+ years old and stood about 4.2 feet throw a huge 14'-16' cast net perfectly every cast for 45 minutes. I was so impressed I had to ask how he does it so easily. He said, throwing a cast net over 70 years makes it pretty easy to be a professional...lol

For all the people that have been affected by that last storm, my heart go's out to them in everyway. For my old friends of military times in N.C and east Tennessee. I bought my first cast net in Vilano Beach back in 1988 at a bait stone just over the A1A bridge. 8’ 3/8 mesh. The guys were tearing up the whiting by the jetties with nets. It was the only net the guy had and let me have it for $80.00 even because that was all I had. Waded out with the big boys and made my first throw. BOWLING BALL! Every throw after that was the same. Went over to Anastasia Island where no one could see me and kept throwing until my arms were noodles. Same results. Even tried twirling it around my head like a helicopter, no luck. I looked like a fool. Finally learned how after a TON of practice. I now throw a 12’ from horn to lead like a pro. I have several different mesh size nets now but still have the original one I bought. Brings back memories.

I like to use quaker oats blended, tuna in oil and fish oil mixed its about 1 cup oats to 1/2 can tuna and about 3 tbs fish oil. Small bites on a hook work great for small fish and if you put into a bigger lump and tie a bit of line on the hook prior it will catch bass as it looks like a mouse
