Tukham Rezi Festival Part 1 || Yasin Valley, Ghizer 2021

Gilgit Baltistan Traditional Music & Dance has significant beauty in terms of uniqueness and variety it presents. The cultural heritage of Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan is rich, beautiful and unique and it manifests in local traditions music & dance specially. The dress also plays a central role in identity of a person. Traditional clothing of the region is influenced by local culture geography and weather. The traditional cap of Gilgit Baltistan has played a major role to define the identity of people of Gilgit Baltistan. As for as music and dance of Gilgit Baltistan is concerned, it is not just source of entertainment but it also plays a vital role in overall personality developments. The music of gilgit baltistan is played occasionally depending on the joy people celebrate like in weddings and local festivals. Music occupies a significant role as it is intangible culture source.
In this video, you will witness people of Yasin Valley, District Ghizer celebrating Spring Festival (also called TukhamRezi in native language), expressing their joy and welcoming new spring season through dance and other traditional norms that they have been observing/ celebrating throughout centuries. TukhamRezi has its uniqueness and way of celebration, and Raja Family of Yasin, valley has been celebrating it for Centuries. Events of the Tukham Rezi includes Dance, Polo, Bone Fire etc. and their celebrations goes on for a minimum of 3 days. We the people of Ghizer are greately thankful to Raja Family Yasin for continuing the annual practice of TukhamRezi. Yes it takes weeks for their arrangements, and the way this events has been carried out is really commendable.
