Nze i tell my family very openly that i prefer giving support to someone i don't know. I love helping people naye kituffu abantu baffe tebasiima. Luckily my family nze bamanyi i do something if i want to. They never pressurise me for money my parents inclusive and incase someone reaches out, I ask all questions kwegamba i interogate them. If they are proud nze i tell them nti they need me but i may not except for prayers. I tell them if i am short on my rent no one in UG can send me money. Bakimanyi nti they never ever give out my number. I only talk to those i used to talk to whilst still in UG.

Ugandan relatives are so inconsiderate.Even when we help and sustain them,pay fees for their children and even pay their hospital bills etc etc they take everything for granted.We leave them our properties ansd they misuse them.We leave them our businesses and they steal all the money. They always want to inflate prices for land,etc even whem we keep giving them money. I left someone in my house but when we went back to visit,the gentleman opened the gate as soon as he saw us in the car,he just went back into the house and did not greet us.In addition to all that ,they stole some of our property. We are really fed up. At the end of the day they end up hating you and getting ways of getting rid of you. My own sister and her husband recently stole 3 tonnes of my fish and said that the fish had been swept by the floods.

If you’re in diapora, nga oyagala holiday, kuwumula, genda munsi endala not Uganda. If you’re in America go to Europe, go to Asia etc. If you want to see relatives, go to Uganda because the minute you land, they’ll make you pay for from fuel to picking you up, every meal in the home you’ll stay, every trip they take you on, refurbishing the home, shopping, aaate they’ll expect okubaletela ebintu, aate buli omu ayagala suitcase namba Kyoka nawe olina okuleeta ebibyo. If you bring stuff they say Mbu kano koka keyandeteddeyo, Kyoka they’re 30 relatives. Kati ndete suitcase asatu? Then the day they take you to the airport eera you pay for the fuel. So for holiday to relax go somewhere else, to visit family go to Ug. But don’t call going to Ug holiday and don’t expect to relax or be left alone unless you go and hide from family.

A very good discussion about kids from uganda getting spoilt but the panelist for to talk about a cultural difference and too much freedom we have in the western world. Once a child knows that you can not do anything that may be seen as a violation of his rights here, she/he becomes big headed. Freedom is a big factor playing a big role in getting immigrant kids. Kids barely listen to their parents and the parents can not do much about it. All they can do to talk to the kids and pray that they listen to their advise and guidance. No disciplinary measures can be taken by the parents because of fear of violating their rights under the laws of the land, child abuse claims or assault as it may be taken. Some parents just give up for fear of losing what they worked for their entire time since arriving here thus letting some things done by kids overlooked to stay safe. The western system is also to blame big time.

i think the panelists dealt with wrong relatives. My mother built her sisters houses and took on our cousins whose father had died, to live with us from primary till we all got married and left her in her 2 bedroom house. None of us ever slept hungry and she treated us all the same. our aunties used to send the little pounds they could make to build, pay fees, medicals and she actually bought lands for them and even built and supervised their projects for them. in this in 15years till they recently came back and found everything just as good as she was updating them. I think its the upbringing of your relatives and the high expectations you built in their minds make them treat you the way you claim. Most of you take pictures on houses that dont belong to you.
