Welkom in de Noordoostpolder, het grootste tulpengebied van Nederland. In het voorjaar komen de 2000 hectare tulpen in bloei en verandert het landschap in een prachtig kleurrijk geheel.

De polder viel officieel droog op 9 september 1942. Daarna is Noordoostpolder in razendsnel tempo ingericht en ontwikkeld. Zo ontstond er een uniek landbouwgebied. Begin jaren zestig werden de eerste tulpen in de polder geplant. De grond in Noordoostpolder is hier bijzonder geschikt voor. Tegenwoordig worden er ieder jaar zo’n 2000 hectare tulpen aangeplant. Deze leveren samen bijna 1 miljard verkoopbare bollen op. Naast tulpen worden er ook lelies, gladiolen en blauwe druifjes in Noordoostpolder geteeld. Noordoostpolder is in oppervlakte het derde bloembollenteeltgebied van Nederland.

The polder officially fell dry on September 9, 1942. After that, Northeast Polder was laid out and developed at lightning speed. This created a unique agricultural area. In the early 1960s, the first tulips were planted in the polder. The soil in Northeast Polder is particularly suitable for this. Today, about 2,000 hectares of tulips are planted every year. Together, these produce nearly 1 billion saleable bulbs. In addition to tulips, lilies, gladioli and blue grapes are also grown in Noordoostpolder. Noordoostpolder is the third largest flower bulb growing area in the Netherlands by area.
