Thanks for this. Everyone who ever met and/or worked with this lady has nothing but glorious things to say about her....and I can see why.

She still moved so beautifully (at age 50) -- some of the same moves she made in Suspense. Amazing. Thanks so much for posting this interview.

Lovely to see and hear her talking - thanks very much. She and my father were playmates as children. She was The Major's daughter; my father was the Major's gamekeeper's son. How time flies!

She was great in 'The Hunted" (1948). Belita was a very talented and attractive lady!

Thank you for the interview with skater, actress, and dancer Belita. Loved her in Suspense, The Gangster . (both with Barry Sullivan), and Blonde Ice. Very unique performer. Wish she had been more marketable, but was relegated to poverty row Monogram Pictures. May she rest in peace and abundant talent.

Even in her 50s and after surviving a serious battle with cancer, the lady is astonishingly beautiful here!

Belita didn't land in Hollywood by accident. Her mother took her there. Belita was never a skating rival to Henie. When Henie left the market for skaters in films began to fade. They wanted to make Belita into an actress because she didn't speak with a European accent. People didn't accept Henie's accent. A Brittish accent will always get one noticed in Hollywood.

@noirczar ~ Are you Eddie Muller? I am so glad to see somebody else appreciates Belita. "Suspense," a surreal exercise in noir, is one of my all-time favorite films, and, at long last, has finally been relesed on disc from the Warner Archive.

She’s terrific in Suspense, it’s a very good film noir, available on KZbin. She plays an American femme fatale perfectly, not at all English.

The artistic British skaters who made headlines- Curry, Cousins, Torvill and Dean- never got into movies despite doing live shows and ballets. Belita came closest. But it puts the uniqueness of Sonja Henie into perspective. Same goes for Esther Williams in unfrozen water. Old Hollywood was better at nurturing left- field talent. Anyone remember Mark Spitz trying to act?

This is awesome - where did you get it? What a partner she would have made for John Curry, who admired her greatly.

She did well in hiding her British accent when she starred in American movies.

I wouldn't call her a Sonja Henie successor. She was probably a better skater than her.
