I dont know if it's the power of suggestion, but whilst watching your Tullibardine review ( not blend at the end) I'm sipping a blend between Spey River ( recent fathers day present) & Glenallachie 12 , both very ordinary whiskies IMO , and getting very similar notes ( without sulphur). Home blends are often very interesting & useful for 'moving-on' those ordinary bottles.

The power of suggestion is real for sure! I'm not surprised that you're getting similar ish notes from Glenallachie 12 though. Home Blending is fantastic. For the good stuff... but also the not so good stuff 😁 Cheers 🥃

I absolutely love the experiment you did here. I’ve messed around like this with bourbon in the past. In the glass but also to some extent with infinity bottles. I have a lot of bottles so I can be selective about which ones go together. It’s funny how often I’ll try to blend two bourbons together that have different profiles aiming for complexity but end up with a mess. Much respect to the good blenders out there. As always so much good info & passion conveyed here. Cheers!

I love a bit of home blending . I never released that with the smoky whisky you really need just a small drop. Great review

Blending whiskies is fun! Also, a good way to enhance a cheaper bottle that is lacking flavour, make a blend with some cask strength peated whisky. Cheers!

Thanks, Shane. My bottle went quickly, it's replaced Glendronach 12 as my goto uncomplicated sherried dram for late afternoons. And I shall definitely try the Shane's Nose blended malt.

Its been a while i was doing my home blend last time but you inspired me with this video to do it again. My bottle of this Tullibardine is almost empty so i blend last couple of drams and finish it in style 😉. P.S. i have Smoky Scott as well but its unopened yet so i used Cask of Islay A.D. Rattray which is another good quality and well priced peated whisky similar to Smoky Scott and effect is surprislingy good. Peat always adds extra dimension changing taste in good way 👍 P.S. 2, currently enjoying Thompson Brothers "Tesco" which is delicious Cheers 😁🥂🥂🥂🙋♂️

Peat is a very versatile blending tool. You can do a lot of different things by varying the ratios 👍 Great to hear that the Thompson Bros Tesco bottle is good. It's not often that I'm tempted to buy a whisky purely for the label but that one is a classic! Cheers 🥃

Are you saying this was recorded 7 months ago? 🤔 Anyway great review as always, I love this tullibardine. It's like drinking Belgian praline. Brilliant stuff. I've done a bit of home blending, most recently when I bought a bottle of Ballantine's 17 and was so disappointed with it I added a few malts to it to make it more interesting. Believe I added some Ardbeg 10 and a sherried whisky. I liked that home blend a lot more than the base Ballantine's luckily!

Maybe 🙂 I don't get a lot of time to record so when I do, I like to get a few done in advance and then I often switch the order around to get the exciting stuff out first. Which sometimes means things get pushed back... a lot. I think my record is about 18 months 😬😂 Belgian praline is an excellent tasting note for this one. Really describes it well. Glad you're having fun with home blending too. Fascinating that you don't have to spend much time doing it to make something really good. Which probably tells us how constrained by price the average blender is. Cheers 🥃

I’m afraid gods of whisky may be angry with me, if I tried to blend by myself.
