The thing all women don’t realize is that most men settle. But the difference between men and women is we don’t punish women for not being our first choice.

This is it, this is exactly what's been bothering me, thank you for putting my feelings into words, women are simply not capable of empathy, they can fake it, but they will always tell on themselves eventually.

Yet somehow the human race has survived until now... That tells you alot about men. Despite knowing this, throughout history. Men still put there lives and joy on the line for these things.. She says "Drew was the bench." It sounded like pension to me at first as well, but I checked the script, and then re-listened. She says "Bench". The "ch" sound, sound a little bit like "sion", but if you re-listen again, knowing it is bench, you can hear it correctly. But yes, to be someone's bench or pension, when not truly desired, is not ideal for Drew, and many men in real life. There is some sadness in that.

I knew it from the start and regrettably, it lasted 4 and a half years longer than it should have. Eventually, she left me for a guy 14 years younger than her because she felt like she was "finally being treated like a lady." Ignorance at its finest. 18:00 Hmm, this seems to be why women initiate divorce. They "settle" to get those lower 3 levels locked down, then this level eats at them over time. Eventually, they decide they NEED Tyrone to get a taste of that 4th level again, only to lose their husbands - and those lower 3 levels. THEN they regret what they've done. That riding the carousel makes achieving level 4 impossible for the woman. They want the accomplishment of locking down the man who had the best attributes of her previous conquests - Chad's 6 pack, Tyrone's sausage, Manuel's charisma, Trump's wealth - all in one guy who doesn't exist (or is so rare they have much better options than her). This unrealistic standard is who she measures her husband against, and is always found wanting. When our boys were about 5 and 3, my wife originated something to me: her life is _boring._ I told her "Yes, responsibilities are - that's one reason why I wanted to spend a few years with you before having kids, so we have some interesting memories to talk about. This is a phase in life. It's not about just us anymore - it's about _them_ (the kids). Make it your goal to see them succeed, improve, get better. Before you know it, they will grow up enough and have interests outside the family, at which point you and I can pursue our own interests again. For now, we can do little things, like escape once in a while to a restaurant alone while your mom has the kids..." Somewhere along the way she realized this was normal, and a part of life to get through, _and accepted it_ - because if she didn't, we wouldn't be married right now, and I'd be another statistic like many of the guys subscribed to this channel. And that's the problem with modern women. They refuse to give up their unrealistic expectations in life, and create their own misery (and misery for anyone unfortunate enough to connect their lives to them, particularly the men that marry them.) Context in my story: one of our boys is autistic, which made finding any time to ourselves a real challenge - that, and another related factor involving her idea on how to "handle" his issues which I won't get into here, almost led me to divorce her. Suffice it to say I put my foot down and threatened to leave her if she did that, especially since I was willing to try other approaches to handle the problem**, and she finally backed down. Anyhow, now our boys are 18 and 20, the 18 year old got into the union as an electrician, and the autistic 20 year old has started the qualifying process to follow in his younger brother's footsteps. Meanwhile I continue to work to provide, and she's had some free time open up where she's become involved in neighborhood groups and such. Plus, there are a few shared goals we are now resuming progress on, now that the pLandemic restrictions have lifted. **Just had a conversation about one of those approaches _she_ wanted that I shot down. We again got into an argument about it, and I pulled it up online - "See! It's only $3000 per treatment!" She says. Me: "That's today's prices. It was $30k 15 years ago when you suggested it to me, wasn't covered by insurance, and I only made $65k before taxes that year, less than half what I earn now. I ask again, like I asked back then, HOW WERE WE SUPPOSED TO PAY FOR IT?" She just blinked at me, and then said, "thank you - I always held a grudge against you for denying that, and for some reason the numbers just didn't register, until now."

@@marcelking1488 To be fair, my wife is a woman that stayed by my side despite me being bedridden for a month (before we had kids, both in our 20s, so she could have easily left), bankruptcy back in 2003, my crazy parents and a few other challenges. She has proved worthy of being a wife before I married her, and when we disagree and I lay down the law (those are rare occasions, as we do well talking things through) she accepts the situation. The disagreement over how to handle the autism was one of those times I had to lay down the law. Most women would have up and left me multiple times by then, or that would have been the final straw. Like I said, she's SMART. She understands I know what I'm doing when I won't let go of something. Also: having followed RP content the past 10 years, I didn't realize I was "practicing" RP - from willing to walk away from her/relationship over BS from the get go, to things like letting her know when other women were hitting on me [I was just being honest, didn't realize the competition anxiety factor until recently] to not backing down from any challenge facing me/us. It explains why her attraction to me has at worst has only occasionally wavered a bit. Remember, a woman being submissive to you part time, or only when things are going well, doesn't count. What really sets her apart is when the major conflicts hit. You owe it to her to hear her out and understand her feelings on the matter - BUT she owes it to you if, after all that, you still hold your position and say "this is the direction we're going in", to fall in line and support (not sneakily undermine) you. My wife has done this time and again, and for no other reason than that (besides the fun time and kids) I am happy to care for and support her. She has seen her friends marriages melt down and the misery that follows, especially for the ex wives, and especially how, despite taking their husbands over the coals in court, they STILL end up broke, miserable and ALONE. She doesn't want to end up feeling like that, so she really appreciates me.

@@johnmitchell2269 So add some more facts to that : effective birth control has only been around less than 65 years. Before that, abortion was common but not so much in hardcore religious families, where it was common for women to be pregnant well into their 40s...having 8+ kids. Back before we polluted the crap out of the world and started eating a ton of industrial waste chemicals in our food, birth defects weren't nearly as common in older women pregnancies as they are today. And girls...especially in religious areas of the world...were being married when they were in their early teens (like 12-13) ...and acting as broodmares for as long as they could. In many 3rd world countries today, that are overly religious people with very little concept of birth control, who have kids before 18 and even into their 50s with a fair amount of regularity. Not so much in first world countries. However, with the advent of anti-abortion authoritarians also pushing for zero birth control options, we could very likely see 40s and 50 year olds giving birth more often than they already do in the US...which is about 2-3% of the births each year. Then there's the other 'new' aspect of reality in first world nations, and especially in the USA - low wages. The average age of Americans having kids is increasing...because as any thinking person can figure out, it's not wise to have kids you can't afford...so more often than not, people are waiting till they are in their late 20s to 30s...and sometimes even 40s.

From my experience there's a literal bench on many carousels for those that don't want to or cannot get on top of the horses. The bench doesn't move and is usually there for the elderly or those that have physical difficulties, but still want to participate on the ride with friends or family. So the husband in the movie, while metaphorically "on the bench" as you refer, was said to be "THE" bench in the analogy to which Charlize's character was referring. He's effectively the one that's "there" for Charlize's character when she's finished riding all the other horses.

Most people just see when solution or maybe create a second one I see many many solutions. Sometimes I can even create new ones that no one has ever seen. In today's day and age that is definitely a brag but that's not what I'm trying to do. I took a year of drafting in college and I created a new way to build homes this is back in the late 1980s. Basically you could disassemble your home and take it with you if you moved if you wished. I created over 20 ways to lock the walls and everything together. I've been a carpet cleaner for almost 30 years. I've created different types of carpet cleaners that don't even exist. One of them is so simple that I don't know why it hasn't already been made a long time ago. Unfortunately I know the answer to that and that is the electrical engineers and such simply don't care about what they're creating. Pretty much the same as people that make your car. The movie does a good job of portraying the bleak future of women who “…ride the carousel” but it rings true for men as well. The husband, as depicted, doesn’t do much beyond provide safety and shelter. The woman doesn’t want to rock the boat, so she accepts the lonely, miserable situation in lieu of being forced to provide for herself and her child. Society is telling women lies, and some men further those lies in order to prey on them. What happens to those guys when they’re in their 50’s, alone, and they don’t have as much earning potential as they once did? Well, if it wasn’t for the huge supply of older, desperate party girls these guys would be alone. But as many of these older women still haven’t learned their life lessons, it might be better to just be single than get immersed in a twisted world of drama and misery. I think many, many marriages are reflected in this movie, based on what I’ve seen in my life and in the lives of many others. (I have observed, and heard of, some depressing drama over the years.) This is true REGARDLESS of what sort of wild life came prior to the marriage. In this movie, the husband is hiding in a video game; the wife is busying herself with the baby. NEITHER is reaching out to the other for emotional support; neither does more than the superficial. It is a matter of two imperfect human beings trying to make a life together - or not. Maybe, in this example, they’re both content to play house instead of actually having a marriage; they’re both taking the easy way out (no confrontations; no arguments; no shared introspection - which means little or no sex) so they can both have some sense of security and support, however fragile that may be. Men tend to hide their feelings; I think we are far more emotional than women, who tend to be very pragmatic about their lives. A man will marry a pretty woman and he will want to make her happy, if only for the superficial reasons of desiring sex and perhaps children from her. The woman may detest the man, fake enjoying the sex, and have the children (and then hire someone to raise them) just so she can enjoy the financial benefits. She can always pick up her marbles and walk away, taking half of his too, right? I was given the impression that this was the future that was looming over the horizon in this movie.

There is nothing to be done really. Most men have two options: a) marry one of these women and most likely have their lives completely ruined, and b) be single, make money, fuck around, and keep doing that as long as you can. Both options are obviously not great. However, I don't blame men for choosing the lesser evil. If you are going to die anyway and given the choice between painful and painless death, most people would pick painless death. It's all about trying to make the best out of a bad situation.

I think most men get in the phase of partying and playing the field when they’re in their teens and 20s. Then they mature, get bored, and move on with their lives. Most don’t seem to want to return to that lifestyle once they grow up so it’s weird that it’s a problem for some women.

I like Patrice O'Neal's perspective on this: she loves him but she doesn't like him. She loves him because she's grown attached to him, he's convenient, useful and the time spent with him made her develop some form of affection for him. However she doesn't like him because he don't give her the tingles and the social validation that a Chad gives a woman. Instead of doing manly stuff he's playing video games.

Charlize Theron is living the leftover life which is why she fits this role so well. As a Gen Xer dating in the 2000s and 2010s I found it difficult to explain to women in the 25-35 range the importance of going out on dates and locking down a good man before 40. Most women gave me an air headed response of “whatever”. It wasn’t until I met my Filipina wife online back in 2013 when she was in her 30s that we actually dated seriously. Many divorced women in their 30s just didn’t want the responsibilities and work marriage required. Many have lost their kids because they never want to grow up and adult. Being a responsible man means nothing to an American woman anymore. In my 40s I had all kinds of women mad at me for being with my Filipina wife. They don’t want to date seriously then they turn around and get mad at those who do and are successful with it. Charlize’s character would be reminded by a guy like me that she should feel damned lucky 🍀 she wasn’t in the leftover category that a lot of single mothers and single women are currently. The leftover women crisis is worse than anyone making this movie even knows.

Thanks for your review and analysis of this film. I plan to watch it. You said something very important. "Once you see the true nature of women; you can't unsee it". Very very true. A man needs to learn female nature as early as possible. And to protect yourself. I think you're probably right. The carousel ride can do permanent damage. Similar to some transient catastrophic event. But the potential damage accumulates over time. I think we men can handle life's suffering more successfully. Although everyone has a breaking point. Many just choose to disengage. To walk away. To seek peace and tranquility. Many times that means walking away from wmn. I found your analysis very interesting/helpful. Lots of truth to ponder. 🤔🤔 PS: Watched Tully. The parallels to Fight Club are striking. Ms Theron makes the film work. Fight Club is a better, more complete film. Thanks for the reference.

This movie is not real. Most cc riders will never be wifed up even by simps because men will not risk their finances and gamble with an American’s woman’s ability to be responsible and faithful. This woman complaining that she got the bench. This woman was lucky to even get the bench dude. No other horse 🐎 was going to settle with her because they knew about her reputation. Most times no one settles with these women. I am 50 and I see it all the time.

You can't want validation by many men and want a husband and children without being depressed. Why? Because you can rarely have both with real meaning and happiness. I never got into the nightclub party scene. Use to attend parties at people's residences with only about a dozen or less people. No strobe lights, no outrageously loud music, but lots of booze and weed. I stopped that scene before I turned 18 and never looked back. At 17 I asked myself where I wanted to be at 50. That question/answer caused me to abruptly change my path. Many of my then friends didn't change their path. Some are dead, some are in prison, some are homeless, and some are just waiting on death. Why does it take women till the wall comes for them to suddenly see that their chosen path is not going to get them what they ultimately want? By that time what eggs, they have left are becoming questionable, they can no longer pair bond, their SMV is steeply dropping each year, and few men they desire will commit to them and put their assets or soul at risk. All for the chance to have fun times for 10-15 years and the odds of 90%+ chance of ending up alone. The ones who do get married and have children are likely to abandon that family later because they miss the fun times only to find out that their SMV is nowhere near what it once was. False validation vs a relationship/family with real meaning. Yet many women are choosing the 1st option. SMDH

As a man i never liked the party scene but loved being a husband and father. I found it tuff to watch other husband's with no hobbies or handyman skills. I always had something to do and I paid in the long-term. X never really had interest even though I tried to help her find hobbies. If your new partner hangs at a bar and that is her activity. Run also girlfriends and there relationships look at.

Having kids and babies is portrayed as horrible in movies and media and that’s the problem. I’m the happiest and most satisfied when I see my kids learn or experience something new. Sure, I personally have see lots of things in life but it’s absolutely wonderful to experience life vicariously through my kids because they are a part of me. Maybe people should watch less movies and TV and go outside and experience real life instead of experiencing it through a f-ing screen.

I hate "praising myself" but as a 6"4 man, very attractive and highly intelligent I wholeheartedly agree with your statement. I have noticed the difference in female attention I get depending on the setting... As a London Black Cab driver I earn about £50k a year.. which is decent.. but the female passengers that use my services are a lot wealthier, and I seem to be invisible to them. They literally have to be drunk or stupid teenagers to flirt with me. Whereas when I go out on special occasions to a fancy restaurant and I wear my best suit, for some reason the waitresses just can't control themselves around me. So yes, you nailed it

The depression thing will rise more for women than men. I reckon that hopefully with the effect of the manosphere in educating men about how men should be will in turn help decrease men's depression and in turn use of pills. I have been on anti depressive meds form time to time but tbh I always thought they were a placebo and didn't make a difference. Honestly, I was only till I kicked myself up the ass and began grinding the weights at home has made me much better mentally. I also don't do gyms as tbh I feel like that is motivation that I didn't need to help me get better mentally and physically, also saves me money with gym fees. But I was in a horrible state and couldn't gain weight with a normal diet. Now on a calorie surplus and honestly the difference between my body a month ago to now is quite a good difference. Hope what I said makes sense.

We have to remember that this is a product of our society going down a very dark path that societies around the world have gone through. We need to hold to traditional values like monogamy and celibacy that have lived through those dark times and have survived despite them. Time and time again, monogamy has shown to be the best thing to do. It may be hard, but the only way to do it is practice it yourself.

Wall hits them all. Important to find an attractive woman but same the other way. But always make sure to screen their character. Our bodies will always eventually fall too time. That’s when your character and who you are as a person matters most. Having went from being overweight borderline obese to being extremely fit. It’s gratifying at first to start to receive extra attention. But if it doesn’t go to your heard it eventually feels really f$&ked up. When you see how truly superficial people are. You should take care of yourself and how you look. But that should not be the primary criteria on how you judge yourself or others. Because eventually time will come and deal you a very hard pill to swallow.
