This ghazal is from the film from “Arth (1982)”. The semi-autobiographical film was written by Mahesh Bhatt about his extramarital relationship with Parveen Babi. It was also directed by him. The film starred Shabana Azmi, Smita Patil, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Raj Kiran. Shabana Azmi got the National Award as well as the Filmfare Award for her role in this film. The film had many wonderful Ghazals. Ghazals of this era had easy to understand lyrics, without using heavy Persian words, and the effect was magical.
This lovely ghazal was written by Kaifi Azmi. The music was composed by Jagjit Singh who also sang the song beautifully. The song featured Shabana Azmi and Rajkiran.
I loved singing this beautiful song. I have used AI to remove the vocals of the song and used the instrumental track as a karaoke. Just click on the link below to listen. I would suggest that for greater enjoyment use your headphones to listen to music.
