@@leeshajoi I have active hyperfixations (usually one or two, sometimes three) and a hyperfixation collection. When I hyperfixate on something, it lasts anywhere from a few days to a few months. When it's done, I either discard it or add it to my collection. Sometimes I grab a hyperfixation from my collection and make it active again, but usually I just revisit it every now and then for a little bit. Good Omens has been in my collection for years, and I made it active again when season 2 was released. Unfortunately, this halted production on a video game I was making based on my previous hyperfixation: Generation Loss. I finally finished the second round of Good Omens and was in the process of returning it to my collection when I watched this video. Fortunately for my career, I was able to do so still and currently my two hyperfixations are Generation Loss and JRWI, both on their second round after I benched them for Good Omens. BTW I also just benched Lucifer (the Netflix show), which is why I couldn't have both Generation Loss and Good Omens at the same time, so I went from Good Omens + Lucifer to Generation Loss + JRWI. Basically from Christian-based fantasy TV shows to Twitch/KZbin shows with Charlie Slimecicle.

The worst aspect isn't the lack of sincerity, is that it's used poorly, if someone calls themselves out on something it can be fun but at some point the executives thought "hey if that's good in small controlled amounts what if we oversaturate all media with it?" Because they are constantly looking for easy formulas for engagement It's at its worse when you're genuinely hooked or at least trying to be in a series and then it seems like the author is like "oh what all this cool shit right here? The world building? The characters? What are you 4? This is dumb and you are dumb for liking it" at that point why make art at all? Rick and Morty definitely had a big impact on this as well as internet ironic humor at some point stopped being funny and it became a bunch or terminally online people trying to out fun each other while having no fun in the process That's something I really liked about freiren, it's a magic world that allows itself to be magical, to have hope, sadness, fun, sorrow without making fun of anyone for liking it

Adding onto that whole 'Irony kinda poisioning a lot of things', listen... I will fully fucking admit that I gave my character a crush on another character not too long after meeting and interacting with them. Because you know what? Life is too short to not have a sincere character interaction involving one character falling in love with another because they were nice and kind to them with them holding onto that love for quite a long while until it is well and truly reciprocated merely because the other side had fallen into that exact same situation as they did because it's a poetic meaning on how love can be found from even the most basic of things. Life is too short to keep going 'Well that just happened'. Irony is bullshit sometimes. Yes, we acknowledge tropes but we do it when it's funny. Not to ruin the moment and keep the audience from emotional investment. And anyone who argues otherwise deserves to watch Shark Tale.

When I write, I try to make sure things make sense, above all else. Princess the dragon (dog-sized) falls in love with Tola because he rescued her and is nice to her, in spite of all the stuff she's got going on. He's kind and understanding and accepting and everything. She knows she can't act on it, the whole "dragon x human" thing would be disastrous for him if other people found out. He does love her back, but it's less a romantic thing and more of a "life partner" thing, which she comes to mirror as the romantic desire fades and is replaced with a partnership. (She even quotes Scrubs, the "We're a little married" line.) It's working pretty well. ...and now Tola is turning into a dragon, which is throwing that nice arrangement into chaos for both of them. She feels like it's her fault, she knows he doesn't WANT to be a dragon, he's dealing with new instincts nudging his thought process off its normal course, and she's torn between "I hope he finds a cure" and "I kinda hope he doesn't so we can finally be more than 'partners'." The poor girl. She's a constant ball of worry and self-blaming. ^_^ Flopsy the hoofbun (rabbit/horse hybrid) is too innocent to ever think of sex, and if someone asks if her and Ben are doing anything, she'd be incredibly flustered and embarrassed. She's too busy dealing with being the local cryptid/superhero and worrying someone is going to see through her human disguise, as well as being embarrassed by local artists putting out comic books, stuffed animals, pin-up drawings ("They made my chest humongous." "It's the furry fandom, they always do that."), memes, analysis videos, etc... >.> Vayryn the yinglet found herself falling for Corwyn pretty fast, knows she was falling fast, tried to be in denial a bit and failed... Luckily, Corwyn fell pretty fast too. They haven't done anything yet, but eventually they're gonna. Which is going to come with a whole host of awkwardness. She's holding out mostly because of the rumors that would spread, and because she doesn't want it to feel like "I'm only doing zhis because you're letting me move in wizh you when I can't find a place of my own (due to humans being species-ist bastards)". Time will fix the latter, and him pointing out that the rumors are gonna be flying whether they do anything or not will overcome the former. Everyone's going to be watching the world's only yinglet closely, and speculating constantly about what she's up to with the human she's living with now. And denying it will just be seen as proof that the rumors are true. ^_~

Exactly, it can be so fun to have characters quickly fall in love. My favorite way of writing romance is two people falling madly in love with each other but being hesitant to tell the other because they’re utterly convinced that the other would never reciprocate their feelings and it could ruin what they have, even if they’re both very unsubtle in their pining while remaining oblivious to the other’s feelings. It’s tropey and silly and probably unrealistic, but it’s so fun and cute and I love writing it. I’ve been branching out more in the ways I write romances, doing different stuff like fast paced upfront confessions, polyamory, qpr’s, unrequited love (which hurts me every time because I love perfect straightforward cheesy romances that end well, but it’s still fun to explore at times), etc. but I love coming back to my ol’ reliable cliche-filled slow-burn pining.

The rare Doctor Who annual comes from the fact the angel tempted someone with it to bring music for the ball, which was actually supposed to be a community shopkeeper meeting.

Remember how Beast let Belle go because he legitimately believes that A) she could never live him and B) that she shouldn't be forced to stay there if they can't fulfill the agreement. Remember ANYTHING about the magic mirror that shows not the person in the mirror but what they desire? The thematic resonance of Gaston being obsessed with looking at himself but Belle sees Beast? Or how Gaston only deigns to kill Beast because now the LITERAL angry mob he sent to Belle and her father needs a new target for their rampage once he's been proven wrong?
