Could definitely do that. I'm reminded of my past days as a USN brat, tours of my dad's air craft carrier, and summers offshore in the Gulf of Mexico on oil rigs during my mid-twenties. ... My bird, Experimental Category N3722T, "The Tango", is 26' from forward edge of the main rotor disc to aftmost edge of the tail rotor disc. Her empty weight is 515 lbs. Gross 875 lbs. She burns @ 12 gph of jet fuel. ... That was a great tour!

These machines are surprisingly fuel efficient. If you think about it, my MD (Artemis) burns the same as a R44 and is far more capable. Otherwise, I include the length of blade in the overall length of the helicopter. On the boat, if you miss your landing spot, the blades will hit the wheel house on the deck before the fuselage hits or even worse, the tail rotor will hit the exhaust of the boat. Not a lot of room for error out here as you'll see in one of my upcoming videos!

I can only speak for myself when I answer. My first night on one of the boats I got SUPER sick! But...we boarded in the middle of a typhoon. The seas aren't usually that aggressive out here. We just got lucky that first night I guess. You get used to the constant movement of the boat in no time though.

How many flight hours do you have? Are the tuna boats generally considered a stepping stone to build up hours for new pilots or are there more that make a career of it?

Are you using GA plugs on the helmet? It looked like it in one of your other videos?

I am. The MD500 is originally built by Howard Hughes, a renown AIRPLANE builder. Which is why most of them have dual GA plugs rather than the standard U-174 helicopter plug.
