Speaking of Phenix, I just picked up an Axis 720X3H today to pair with my HX Raptor for my 80lb and pinch 60 or light 100. Absolutely love the pull on it, and I can still fling sardines if I need to

Great video Ray! Super info on the iron & the Orca tip. One lure that I’m adding to my next BFT/YFT trip in November are Vibes, looking forward to trying both Natureboys Tetsuwan & Yo-Zuri Speedvibes. Also I can verify that Yellowtail LOVE Riptides. Riptides in 155mm size are a confidence lure for me but I have caught at least 10 fish on straight retrieves with short pauses at Cedros Island.

Great video! I do disagree though at 7:50 mark. I think the inline single work just as good - I keep the trebles when fishing YT and rock singles for tuna. But either works, can't go to a 2/0 treble because it messes up the action bad. Has to be 1/0.
@Dirty.Hookers
@Dirty.Hookers 11 ай бұрын
Good to know about the inline singles, thanks Bryan. I do agree on trebles, 1/0 is the biggest size for these jerkbaits

I put inline hooks on all of my current snipers and they swim perfectly fine. However I did go smaller on the hooks
@Dirty.Hookers
@Dirty.Hookers 2 ай бұрын
Inline hooks work great too! I truthfully do think it’s all personal preference how people want to fish them. Trebles, more hook ups, but fish can twist off. Inline, less hook ups, but better connection when you do get a solid hook up

🤟Great video. Just had a question though. I always heard that 60g-120g reflective flat falls were a go-to for yft but nobody really talks about them on tackle tackle talks. Also is it because they fall below the top feeding fishing that they usually get bit by yft vs dorado on top? 🤔

I'm a private boater, new to SoCal, and haven't had the opportunity to be on top of fish to get lures to them. That means i need more time on the water :P
@Dirty.Hookers
@Dirty.Hookers 11 ай бұрын
A lot of our yellowfin are either sighted by surface breezing or jumping fish, or marking deeper on the fish finder and chum them up. Private boat, best luck is gonna be visual fishing. Keeping your eyes peeled for any kind of surface activity. Like I mentioned, breezing fish and jumping fish, or also foamers, kelp paddies, and any other kind of floating debris or signs of fish.

Great video, any idea on using a swivel on these lures or should they be tied on?
@Dirty.Hookers
@Dirty.Hookers 11 ай бұрын
No swivels. Braid tied to leader with a connection knot and lure tied straight to your leader. If you want to do a swivel above the lure to reduce line twists, you can, but i person haven’t have much of an issue myself

Very nice video. Not a pro, but fish the Sea Of Cortez every winter for 4 months when I hit Los Cabos to escape the crazy Canadian winters. I've caught 2 Black Striped Marlin and a whole bunch of my targeted favorite fish Dorado (Mahi Mahi). Point being there is Yellowfin tuna there, but I've never tried to catch one but want to try. Thanks for the expert tips! You guys really know your stuff #Subscribed

What do all the numbers and letters mean for Taddy and Salas? They have 100 different types of jigs but no explanation on what the difference is aside from some are “yoyo” jigs and others are “surface irons”

Different actions, max line weight,max line retrieval,size.
@Dirty.Hookers
@Dirty.Hookers 2 ай бұрын
Each different number/letter for heavy and light irons, are different size and style lures. Tady C is a much smaller lure than a Tady 45 or Starman 112. Each size and shape will give off its own action. Sometimes the fish want a slower style action, and sometimes they want a more fast/erratic style action! Always important to understand what each lure can do in the water for these very reasons!

Dang that’s so cool you stuck one! Bummer it came off. I’ve noticed with fish that jump, it is pretty difficult to keep them pinned on the surface iron or yo-yos. A lot of metal and weight they can easily throw around with a single jump.
