To me the tuna in oil has a better taste. I also drain the oil good. I know packed in water is more healthy, I just like the taste of the Tuna packed in oil. Love your videos. Thanks for sharing your life with us.

Hi Mrs. Donna, I will definitely try the Tuna patties with sautéed onion, but a tip for Salmon patties so you don’t have to deal with skin and tiny bones is buying a salmon fillet and precook then make your salmon cakes from that salon fillet. Taste better than the can too 😉

Mrs. Donna, I had a taste for a salmon crochet one day but only had the pouch or can mackerel. It has the fish skin and bones like sardines, so you probably wouldn't care to use it. I thoroughly enjoyed my patties, as did my Mom and son (both are a little slow to try new things). I also use the mackerel like tuna salad. I realized all these other options have more onces of fish, when compared to the cans of tuna I use. I can't compare the tuna price per can size verses the other options, because the others were given to me. Lesson learned...variety is a GOOD THANG! 👍🏽😉💯😋👍🏽

I specifically use olive oil packed tuna (Costco) for tuna mac salad and creamed tuna. In the salad, it cuts down on the amount of mayo I put in last and enhances the tuna flavor throughout. For the creamed tuna I use the oil (instead of butter) to start cooking the flour for the roux and that also intensifies the tuna flavor throughout. I use a sleeve of crushed saltine crackers for a like amount of canned salmon for salmon patties. Water pack tuna works for me for plain tuna with mayo sandwiches and scrambled eggs with tuna. I'm a big tuna lover. Aloha from Hawaii.
@honestlyspeaking28394 ай бұрын
I normally buy tuna packed in oil if I'm making tuna sandwiches or tuna pasta. I don't like mayo so I buy tuna in olive oil for my tuna sandwiches. The flavor is simply better. Most of the time I mix my tuna with lemon zest, red onion, olives, garlic, feta, and sometimes pesto then add to ciabatta bread or pasta. The taste is fresh & bold with a mediterranean vibe. I love it this way! I'm definitely going to try making these tuna patties with cheddar or gouda cheese, though! Great idea!! Yum!!!😋🥰

I make tuna patties like my momma did. Tuna in water drained dry, I use 3 or 4 cans and 2 eggs and onions and salt and pepper and crushed sleeve of saltine crackers. It is a cheap meal. I don't remember tuna in water growing up, I don't think they started that till late. I think also tuna in water is cheaper, Tuna used to be a cheap meal. Also we eat them with Ketchup on them, it is the way we ate them and my kids still do as well. Don't eat ketchup on anything else but these. lol I make a separate can for my daughter cus she doesn't like the onions in hers. I don't sauté them, just dice them real small but love the bite of them in there.

I mix can salmon and albacore tuna 2 eggs, parmesean cheese without cellulose powder, green onions, thyme, AP seasoning to make my patties they're delicious and a little chunky. My granny used the tuna in oil. You don't need to add oil to fry them or bake them it's already in there. The flavor is more robust she added egg, cornmeal, and flour crispy deliciousness. Just shared a special memory we always had grits with them

Like a tuna melt without all the mayo and bread, great idea, Ms. Donna. Thank you I'll have to try this, yum. I'm Italian so we use the Wild Planet Tuna in Olive Oil when we make a Mediterranean Salad. Most Italians put in items they prefer, whether it be Spring mix, Romaine, tomatoes, olives, red onions, roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts. Some of my family makes it with cut up boiled red bliss potatoes, celery, red onion, Italian seasoning, and the tuna in olive oil, but we also add Bragg's Organic Extra Virgin Oil with mashed garlic to the mix. You definitely have to be raised with that to have a taste for it. I absolutely love it. I don't make it often, only when out of the blue I get a taste for it. BTW Paula Deen has a great tuna burger recipe that is delicious. However it calls for a bun. Sorry for rambling. Bet you don't ask me anymore questions😂😂

Ciao Linda! I'm a native Texan and love tuna that way! I also buy tuna with olive oil and like to add kalamata olives, lemon juice/zest, red onion, sun-dried tomatoes, feta & garlic. Sometimes, I add pesto, olives, & feta to my tuna, mix into pasta for a quick meal. I used to do this once a week! I always tell my hubby that I must have been Greek or Italian in my past life because I LOVE mediterranean cuisine.😂🤣
@lindahumes94834 ай бұрын
